The Sewing Machine Operator - Lead hand is primarily responsible for operating single and multiple needle sewing machines; ensuring production schedules and quality standards are consistently maintained.

Job Duties:
Uses sewing machine to gather, hem, reinforce, decorate, attach fasteners to têxtile products (eg. Seat cushions, lounge mattresses, umbrellas, furniture).

Selects thread, places spool in position, inserts bobbin, depresses pedal, observes stitching and cuts away excess material.

May change needles, secure modifying equipment, selects material, buttons.

Fabric cutting for work orders

Pattern making for slings and cushions, cushions stuffing and closing

Upholster cushions (glueing, sewing, and stappling)

Umbrella sewing and assembly

Create new patterns for new products

Assigning workload to other employees and handling work orders

May perform other duties as required

Maintains clean, safe work area.

Qualifications:
Demonstrated effective hand to eye co-ordination

Proven ability to operate Sewing machines with

Proficiency and accuracy

Previous related Sewing Machine experience with upholstery fabrics for furniture assembly a must

Capable of lifting and/or carrying up to 20 lbs. without difficulty

Proven ability to be a team player

Proven effective organizational skills

Creative problem-solving skills

Knowledge of Hauser finished goods helpful

Mandatory:
Minimum Grade 10 or equivalent education; preference will be given to those with Grade 12 or higher.

Good command of English language, both verbal and written.

Employment Conditions:
Days - 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Some overtime may be required.

Expected hours: 40 per week
