**Position Summary**

The HSE Coordinator develops, administers, and implements companywide occupational safety programs. This individual is responsible to ensure compliance with applicable Legislation (OH&S), Environmental / WHMIS regulations, and safety standards. The HSE Coordinator is accountable to implement safety directives and improving the overall safety performance of the company. This individual will be responsible for the analysis of health and safety reports determining trends and making recommendations on preventative or corrective measures.

**Key Accountabilities/Responsibilities**:
Responsibility Area #1 - Documentation and Reporting
- Lead the development and support safety strategies, plans, policies, practices, and procedures, JHA’s for on-site activities
- Support HSE team to calculate, track, analyze, and report health and safety statistics
- Investigate incidents, near misses, and occupational injuries / illness to determine causes and preventative measures
- Support HSE Manager with the A&H Modified / Alternate Work Program
- Support HSE team to file WCB reports within 72 hours of being notified and manage all WCB claims as required
- Support HSE & Operations with maintenance of employee files (hard copies and digital)
- Perform COR maintenance audits & external audits, generate & execute action plans based off audit results
- Support the HSE and Operations teams with the Drug and Alcohol program ensuring D&A tests are scheduled as per contractor frequency and clearance letters are readily available as required
- Support the HSE Manager with the Substance Abuse Program (SAP) ensuring all documentation is completed and submitted to CannAmm. Schedule Return to Work (RTW) and Follow-Up testing

Responsibility Area #2 - Communication and Feedback
- Coach and guide supervisors and workers in the area of health and safety.
- Provide feedback to management identifying successes, areas for improvement and recommendations.
- Participate in the monthly A&H Safety Committee Meeting
- Visit the worksites to maintain relationships with contractors, assist in conducting workplace inspections, and to ensure safety standards are met and being enforced consistently.
- Ensure incident corrective actions are followed up on and completed

Responsibility Area #3 - Training
- Ensure compliance and training as required by legislation, contractor standards, and A&H procedures (fall pro, confined space, overhead crane, WHMIS, first aid, etc.)

Responsibility Area #4 - Budget
- Purchase and distribute safety related equipment
- Purchase safety related documentation (PSI’s, Toolbox, Observation cards, Near miss booklets)

Responsibility Area #5 - Values and Purpose
- Focus on developing self and others through practicing living the company values every day
- Participate in continuous training, coaching, and discussions about the values as requested or needed
- Participate in helping A&H facilitate its purpose

**Required Knowledge/Skills/Abilities**:

- Willingness to work mainly from on-site locations throughout Edmonton and Surrounding Areas
- Working knowledge of relevant provincial OH&S legislation
- Working knowledge and understanding of WCB legislation
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to effectively interact with A&H Steel employees of all levels
- Excellent organizational, analytical, prioritization, and problem-solving skills

**Supervision**:
No supervisory responsibilities

**Position Reports to**:

- HSE Manager

**Education and Experience**:

- Note: A combination of education and experience outside of the standards below may also be considered._

Education
- High School Diploma

Professional Designation
- CSO (ACSA) or MSO (MHSA) designation (required)

Minimum Experience
- 3 - 5 Years

Type of Experience Required:

- 3 years’ experience in a Safety role
- 5 years’ experience in a construction environment
- COR audit experience through the ACSA or MHSA an asset

Pay: $80,000.00 per year
