The Workforce Development and Training Division of the department of Business, Mining, Trade and Job Creation contributes to the development of a skilled and diverse workforce needed to support economic success and is responsible for the design and delivery of employment and training programs in partnership with employers, industry and community organizations, training providers and other government departments to help Manitobans connect with jobs.

Qualifications:
Essential:

- Post-secondary education (preferably at the graduate level) in political studies, public administration, or other related social science. An equivalent combination of education, training and relevant experience may be considered.
- Proven ability as a leader with a commitment to create, support and sustain a diverse environment that enables staff to achieve results and develop for the future.
- Experience managing staff, responsibie for human resource management (i.e performance and attendance management,recruitment, development and coaching).
- Financial management experience with exposure to the budgetary cycle including processes and requirements for approval.
- Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to establish and maintain positive and effective working relationships with a wide variety of partners by building rapport to obtain objectives and resolving conflict as required.
- Experience leveraging opportunities for innovation, finding creative solutions to issues and successfully managing change.
- Experience leading complex projects, providing clear, concise direction, translating strategic priorities into clear operational and business plans and measuring success.
- Strong political acumen with the ability to provide strategic advice to senior leaders on complex topics and sensitive issues.
- Solid judgement, problem-solving and decision-making skills with the ability to anticipate potential problems and take action to mitigate any consequences.
- The ability to multi-task, plan and organize one's own workload and that of others to ensure that assignments are accomplished on time.
- Excellent verbal communication skills including the ability to make formal and informal presentations to a variety of audiences.
- Excellent written communication skills with experience preparing documents such as briefing materials and authority seeking documents, accurately and comprehensively.

**Duties**:
The Director, Western and Northern Manitoba Service Area, of the Workforce, Development and Trainining Division, reporting to the Senior Executive Director, leads branch operational functions and supports the branch and government as a whole in achieving its priorities that contribute to economic development and employment.
