**The Agency**

The Calgary John Howard Society (CJHS) is a community-based charitable organization dedicated to reducing the incidence of crime and increasing community safety through preventative and restorative justice practices. **The Program**

The BIPOC Youth Crime Prevention Project targets youth aged 12-17. The program provides an intensive systems navigation approach for youth exiting incarceration and transitioning into the community. Ground in restorative justice principles and philosophies, the program provides advocacy, support, and mentorship for youth who are struggling with a variety of social and emotional issues including current criminal involvement or criminal behavior, addressing unhealthy risk-taking, school challenges, strained or negative family and peer relationships.

**The Position**

The Community Integration Youth Advocate will work in an integrated and collaborative way with the Family Conflict Facilitator, COAST, wider CJHS Team and the community. The Advocate will support an intensive system navigation approach for youth ages 12-17 exiting incarceration to facilitate successful reintegration into the community. Working from a client-centered, trauma-informed lens, youth are provided one-to-one support with a coordinated and integrative approach for their transition plan including attendance at meetings, transportation, and connections to appropriate community resources including, but not limited to, basic needs, recreation, school or employment.
- Solid case management and social work skills
- Crisis prevention/intervention skills
- Knowledge of the Youth Criminal Justice System
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Post-secondary education in a relevant discipline (i.e. human services, child and youth care, etc.)
- Brain Story Certification considered an asset.
- A current criminal record check (CPIC) and Child Intervention Check (where applicable) are required (within the past three months).
