Local Coordinator: Homestay Recruitment & Program Support

YES Canada is looking for an entrepreneurial, outgoing and energetic individual to join our team in the Parry Sound area, as our local coordinator to recruit and build a network of host families for incoming international high school students and to provide on-program support for host families and students while in Canada.

YES Canada is a high school student exchange company that provides Canadian and
International high school students the opportunity to study abroad with flexible terms of
2, 3, 5, or 10 months. International students studying in Canada stay with a host family and attend a local high school, while supported by the local coordinator.

**The Role**:
The YES Canada Local Coordinator position is a multifaceted role that has two major components:
1. Recruiting and screening host families within the local area to welcome and host our inbound international students and consistently networking to build a database of homestay families.

2. Providing on-program support to our international students and host families for the duration of their stay in Canada, including a welcome orientation, monthly check-ins, reports and intermittent troubleshooting in conversation with our main office team.

In this role, you provide peace of mind to both host families as their local support and contact, working to build and develop a loyal and consistent host family network by providing a customized family experience and supports. Your ability to develop relationships with both internal and external partners is crucial to your success, particularly within the community. A proven motivation and entrepreneurial style enables you to drive the business results you desire, as the position is fulfilled on a contractor and commission basis. We are seeking an individual who is driven to build a network of host families and facilitate the growth of the programs while delivering exceptional support to the students and hosts while on program.

**As a local coordinator you will**:

- Cultivate local business opportunities and seek out new host families through relationship building within the community and your centres of influence
- Develop a loyal client base by providing exceptional educated advice, supports and troubleshooting solutions
- Collaborate with community organizations to anchor external host families
- Meet and/or exceed allocated homestay placement quotas each student intake period for your region
- Complete homestay screenings to qualify families and match students with host families
- Take the initiative to provide advice, support and solutions to host families, meeting their individual needs prior to student arrival and provide support to both the host family and international student during the program
- Be accessible and accommodate host family and students needs
- Act as a liaison between the main office and host family/student, providing first line of support and contact
- Minimum 3 years of proven success in a sales-oriented role, ideally commission driven, or a successful self-employed entrepreneur
- A solid network in your community, resulting in referrals, new host families and COI’s resulting in increased business
- Proven ability to build trust and maintain long-term community relationships
- Ability to cultivate strong relationships with a variety of stakeholders (community organizations, host families, students)
- A self-starter who works independently and seeks out answers
- Previous experience in community development
- Strong knowledge of networking with local business and marketing through social media
- Excellent presentation and organization skills
- Ability to work at irregular hours occasionally
- Strong interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution and mediation
- A reliable vehicle and drivers license - must be comfortable driving
- Access to a computer, printer and scanner with basic computer literacy
- Basic Microsoft Excel and Word skills and access to the software
