**Summary**
The Dispatch Supervisor is responsible for all day-to-day department activities and operations by leading, supervising and assisting a diverse team of drivers and dispatch team aimed at delivering excellent customer service. Monitors and maintains consistent communication between all key stakeholders.
**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Manages customer calls requiring special attention and pick up requests in a positive courteous manner
- Monitor dispatch activities to maximize use of equipment and personnel
- Schedules drivers for optimal efficiency
- Monitors driver performance and recommends improvements to manager
- Ensures communication with dock/dispatch and other departments/terminals is maintained
- Partner with operations management team in determining department needs
- Conduct ongoing productivity measures
- Assists in the coordination of holiday schedules for drivers
- Participates in building, maintaining, or improving safety initiatives
- Partakes in team activities
- Contributes to the success of the department and organization by participating in special projects and miscellaneous tasks
**Supervisory Responsibilities**
Responsible for leading and supervising drivers and support staff within the department.

**Qualifications**
Ideally, 3-5 years related experience in general freight transportation, in a leadership capacity. Strong written and oral communication skills, organizational and time management skills, excellent problem solving skills. Experience with the dispatch software is preferable. An intuitive understanding of a changing workforce and the requirements for sustaining customers. Individuals with related experience will be considered for this positon.
**Physical Requirements**
Some of the physical demands may include, but not be limited to: pro-longed sitting and using a computer and telephone for extended periods of time. May have to visit yard and dock on regarding freight or vehicles.
