**What you will do**:
Reporting to the Manager of Forestry, Horticulture, and Cemeteries in the Parks, Forestry, and Cemetery Services Division, your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

- Perform aerial inspections and utilize climbing techniques using approved safety equipment to reach heights for tree maintenance
- Operate and maintain various arboricultural tools and equipment, including chainsaws, pole saws, chippers, and aerial devices, in a safe and efficient manner
- Implement proper tree care practices according to industry standards and municipal policies
- Demonstrated climbing experience and aerial tower operation
- Assist in tree planting, pruning, removal, and maintenance activities to ensure the health and vitality of the urban forest
- Assist in conducting tree inventories, inspections, and assessments to determine tree health and recommend necessary actions
- Collaborate with team members to set up traffic control measures according to relevant regulations during work operations
- Adhere to safety protocols and procedures to ensure a safe working environment for oneself and team members
- Assist in responding to emergency situations such as storm damage and participate in related cleanup and restoration efforts
- Maintain accurate records of work performed, equipment used, and any issues or concerns encountered during tree maintenance operations
- Provide excellent customer service when interacting with residents, stakeholders, and the public regarding tree-related inquiries and concerns

**What you will bring**:

- Post-secondary diploma in Arboriculture, Forestry, or a related program
- Two (2) years of experience in arboriculture, tree maintenance, or related field
- Basic knowledge of tree care, pruning techniques, and safe operation of arboricultural equipment
- Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions and perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and climbing
- Valid MTO ‘G’ class driver’s license in good standing with driver’s abstract acceptable to the City (maximum of 3 demerit points; maximum of 2 convictions within the previous 36 months; no driving related criminal code convictions within the previous 36 months; and no ignition interlock restrictions) is required to perform the job; DZ class drivers license is preferred
