**What you will do**:
Reporting to the Manager of Forestry, Horticulture, and Cemeteries in the Parks, Forestry, and Cemetery Services Division, your primary responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

- **Turf Maintenance**: Grass cutting with a variety of equipment, trimming and general clean-up and site beautification
- **Sports and Outdoor Programming (Parks)**: Parks and sports field maintenance, field layout, line marking, and preparation
- **Waterloo Park and Special Events (Parks)**: Facilitate special events, garbage collection, daily washroom maintenance, and general repair and upkeep.
- **Parks, Playgrounds and Splash Pads (Parks)**:Assist with regular inspections and maintenance of playgrounds and splash pads, including grass cutting, trimming and general clean-up
- **Horticulture**: Install and maintain planting beds, planters and hanging baskets, greenhouse plant care activities, tree and shrub maintenance, planting, sodding and irrigation
- **Forestry**: Tree planting, pruning, watering, and basic tree care and maintenance which may include watering, fertilizing, mulching, chipping, stump grinding
- **Cemeteries**: Operate equipment and lay out foundations for traditional and cremation interments and perform cemetery grounds maintenance

**Other general duties will include**:

- Operating, maintaining and performing daily checks on vehicles and equipment (which may include power tools, backhoe, tractor mower, pickup truck, dump truck, etc.), including the completion of any required documentation and paperwork
- Assisting with training and guidance of Outdoor Maintenance Students, as required

**What you will bring**:

- Minimum Grade 12 Education or equivalent
- 1-3 years of experience in a related field involving manual physical labour and operation of power tools, vehicles and equipment
- Valid MTO ‘G’ class driver’s licence in good standing with driver’s abstract acceptable to the City (maximum of 3 demerit points; maximum of 2 convictions within the previous 36 months; no driving related criminal code convictions within the previous 36 months; and no ignition interlock restrictions) is required to perform the job
- Landscape experience including grass cutting, tree and shrub maintenance, sodding and irrigation is an asset
- Equipment experience with a backhoe, tractor mower, pickup truck, and / or dump truck is an asset
- Capable of performing the physical demands of the position, which may include lifting, bending, squatting, twisting, kneeling and standing on a regular basis
