We are looking for a US Payroll Specialist to join our growing team at Corus Orthodontists. This position reports to our Senior Manager, People Operations and Mergers & Acquisitions and is responsible for the full-cycle payroll processing. **What you will be doing - key responsibilities**:
- Full-cycle US Payroll processing using Ceridian Dayforce
- Responsible for inputs and validations during the regular payroll cycles
- Management of all tax related items across the US payroll, including tax audits
- Oversee all monthly, quarterly, and year-end tax obligations at both the State Level and Federally
- Liaise with practices to ensure all tax related mail has been received, answer questions and act as main contact for state authorities
- Partner with our finance team to ensure 941s are accurate
- Monitor and research any outstanding payroll tax issues and work with our vendors to ensure timely resolution of tax notices received
- Manage the set-up and closure of all tax accounts with state and local jurisdictions as needed
- Ensure payroll tax processes are fully documented and such documentation is easy to follow
- Maintain documentation/filing system:
- Maintain payroll tax account portal log-in and access details
- Regularly monitor payroll portals (i.e., for notices, changes to accounts)
- Properly file all communications received
- File copies of all reports from Ceridian
- Partner with our benefits team to ensure various deposits are done on time (401k, HSA, etc.)
- Manage any required garnishments and required deductions
- Reconcile and research differences for quarterly and annual filings include Form W-2s
- Act as back up to others on the payroll team for key responsibilities
- Assist with any payroll related projects and year-end activities as requested.
- Answer questions coming in from both vendors and employees
- Ad hoc duties as required
**About you**:
- You are a self-starter, who is willing to roll up your sleeves in order to make work happen
- You enjoy strategic thinking but can also operate at a tactical level very efficiently
- You are approachable, like to coach and train others, and enjoy networking and connecting with diverse groups to draw out creative inspiration.
**What you bring - qualifications**:
- 5+ years of US payroll and tax experience
- PCP or CPM designation
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Strong relationship building skills
- Advanced knowledge in MS Office, especially excel
- Experience with payroll system; Dayforce (preferred)
- Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines
- Able to perform job responsibilities and duties under mínimal supervision
- Strong customer service orientation
**Where you will be working/other important information**:
- This position is remote and can be done from anywhere in Canada or the United States.
- You will work a regular 40-hour per week schedule, Monday to Friday
