About the Role The Resident Care Coordinator (RCC) reports to the Director of Care and/or designate and is the role model and team leader who coordinates and supervises the activities and duties of those who deliver direct resident care. The RCC performs duties and monitors departmental activities to maximize resident focused care while maintaining resident respect and dignity for all persons served.
**Responsibilities**

- Be an engaged collaborative team player, developing and maintaining professional relationships that support and strengthen the organizational culture and purpose.Model the values and leadership behaviours of organization and inspire other to do the same. Last Reviewed & Updated March 2024
- Assess, plans, implements and evaluates residents’ needs by recording in the Care Management system.
- Coordinates and supervises care staff and directs their work and assigns duties as necessary.
- Liaises with physicians, community agency representatives, families, visitors and volunteers.
- Administers medications and treatments as per established standards, regulations, policies and procedures.
- Conduct audits and provide corrective actions based on opportunities for improvement identified in the audit to ensure highest standard of care is achieved.
- Participate in care conferences, med review and MSAC and other Quality Improvement Meetings.
- Assume the role of a nurse on the floor in the event of staffing shortage.Ensure that resident’s care plans are developed and up to date
- Review and/or submitting Reportable Incident Reports to Licensing in a timely manner and adjust care plan as needed.
- Hire clinical staff as needed.Be involved in performance management and reviews.
- Provides direct care to residents as necessary and liaises with other disciplines and departments to ensure quality focused resident care.
- Maintains paper and electronic documents, ensuring confidentiality is maintained.
- Participates in orientation of new employees.
- Actively participates in facility programs, meetings, committees and educational in services.Maintains a safe environment for residents, family and staff, through:
- a accident prevention,
- b knowledge of emergency procedures and regulations,
- c the safe use of supplies and equipment and reporting when repairs are necessary, and
- d Utilizing infection control procedures
- Clinical on call duties as required
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
**Qualifications and Skills**:
- Graduate of an approved program for Nursing and holds a current license with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) as a Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse.
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing an asset.
- 1-2 years of clinical management in Long Term Care
- Valid Occupational First Aid Level 1 certification and CPR.
- Successful annual Resident Assessment Instrument (RAI) competency testing.
- All successful applicants must pass the vulnerable sector Criminal Record Check applicable to Provincial guidelines.
- Ability to read, write, and speak English proficiently and understand verbal and written instructions.
- Computer skills including the ability to navigate basic computer programs such as Word, Excel, Outlook.
- Ability to push, pull, stoop, crouch, lift and carry up to 25 lbs. Must be able to work with cleaners, detergents and other cleaning equipment.
