Job Summary
The Industrial Relations Centre (IRC) is part of the Faculty of Arts and Science at Queen’s and offers open enrollment and custom professional development programs across Canada, in the Caribbean and virtual classroom.

Reporting to the Manager, Operations the Sales and Marketing Manager is responsible for developing and implementing strategic plans for business development, marketing and communications, and domestic and international partnerships. The incumbent identifies key revenue-generating opportunities, client development and institutional relationships for the IRC. The Sales and Marketing Manager is required to represent the IRC by traveling to key markets, visiting partners and attending conferences to promote programs and develop new business opportunities. The Sales and Marketing Manager will support the mandate of the IRC, while maintaining exceptional service to external partners and liaising with sponsors, clients, staff, faculty, and other Queen’s departments.

This schedule for this position will require the incumbent to occasionally travel domestically and internationally and work non-traditional hours (some evenings/weekends).
**Job Description**:
**KEY RESPONSIBILITIES**:

- Collaborate with senior leadership to develop and implement the strategic plan for new business recruitment. Provide expert advice for the annual business plan, including specific goals for course development and proposed strategies to meet these objectives.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of the strategic plan for IRC that aligns with the Faculty’s Strategic Framework and the University’s Strategic Framework.
- Recommend and facilitate the implementation of systems, procedures and policies to continually improve business processes.
- Review policy and practices, encompassing the IRC’s holistic approach to registrations and its longstanding commitment to professional education in the HR/LR/OD fields. Ensure conformity to guidelines, identify errors and resolve problems.
- Collaborate with the Manager, Operations to provide input and recommendations for strategic, travel and operational plans, determine priorities, discuss opportunities and solve unexpected challenges
- Lead business development initiatives by identifying, recommending and pursuing new markets for existing programs and new program opportunities
- Determine and implement the assessment and evaluation of all IRC programs ensuring that feedback is considered from all stakeholders
- Develop and maintain positive working relationships with domestic and international partners including foreign governments, the private sector, universities, colleges, and marketing agencies for the purpose of recruitment and partnership
- Represent the IRC at tradeshows/events/professional organizations
- Champion initiatives requiring collaborative efforts amongst departments and Faculties across the University
- Manage projects by coordinating people and resources toward the effective and timely completion of project goals. Develop comprehensive project plans, delegate and organize responsibilities, track project performance, meet budgetary objectives and adjust based on project constraints
- Continuously audit existing CRM technology and procedures and makes recommendations for systematic approaches to data collection/prospecting and analysis.
- Develop proposals and budgets, and respond to custom clients in consultation with the Manager, Operations
- Oversee the creation of registration recruitment materials, including print, website, social media, and digital marketing
- Promote equity, diversity, and inclusion in the workplace
- Plan, prioritize and manage the work of employees, providing strategic and tactical advice, guidance and coaching. Identify the need for staff resources, participate on staffing committees, and make effective recommendations regarding employee selection.
- Manage performance by establishing performance standards, reviewing and evaluating performance and conducting formal performance reviews on an ongoing basis.
- Assess staff training and development needs and ensure that employees receive training required to improve and sustain successful performance.
- Investigate, addresses, and resolves employee/labour relations issues, including disciplinary matters. Makes decisions or effective recommendations on matters involving possible discipline, discharge and probationary termination.
- Other duties as required in support of Queen’s IRC.
