**Job Summary**:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and organized Production Planner Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for assessing engineering drawings and specifications to create comprehensive production plans, ensuring efficient allocation of labor and resources. You will play a critical role in optimizing our production processes and ensuring timely delivery of high-quality products.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- **Scheduling**: Develop production schedules and coordinate production activities to balance production loads and meet customer demand.
- **Engineering Drawing Assessment**: Review and analyze engineering drawings, bills of materials (BOM), and technical specifications to understand the product requirements, including materials, components, and assembly processes.
- **Resource Allocation**: Develop and maintain production plans that allocate labor, equipment, and materials efficiently to meet production targets while minimizing waste and maximizing resource utilization.
- **Capacity Planning**: Monitor and manage production capacity, ensuring that resources are appropriately scheduled to meet production demands and delivery deadlines.
- **Workforce Management**: Collaborate with production supervisors and HR to determine workforce needs, including staffing levels, skill requirements, and overtime management.
- **Lead Time Analysis**: Calculate and optimize lead times for each production stage, including procurement, manufacturing, and quality control, to ensure on-time delivery to customers.
- **Inventory Control**: Work closely with inventory management to optimize raw material and finished goods inventory levels, reducing carrying costs and ensuring materials are available when needed.
- **Production Efficiency**: Continuously analyze and improve production processes to increase efficiency and reduce production costs.
- **Quality Assurance**: Collaborate with quality control teams to ensure that production processes meet quality standards and product specifications.
- **Documentation and Reporting**: Maintain accurate records of production plans, resource allocation, and performance metrics. Provide regular reports to management on production planning status.

**Qualifications**:

- Bachelor's degree or diploma in Engineering, Mechanical Design, Manufacturing, or a related field.
- Proven experience in production planning, resource allocation, and capacity management.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and BOMs.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in production planning software and ERP systems.
- Building or working with Gantt charts.

**Preferred Qualifications**:

- Degree in Engineering or a related field.
- Experience in the manufacturing industry.
- Experience in manufacturing, trades or planning and scheduling would also be considered an asset.
- Certification in production planning, project management or supply chain management, considered an asset but not required.
