St. John’s School is seeking a permanent Part-time Janitor. The role is expected to work 20 hours per week.

**Position Summary**:
The Janitor ensures that school buildings and property are clean, safe, and sanitary. A Janitor at St. John’s School works effectively on a team, takes initiative, and has a client-centric approach to their work.

**Summary of Key Duties**:

- Vacuums, dusts, sweeps, mops, washes and waxes offices, rooms, lobbies, and other school areas as assigned
- Moves and resets tables, chairs, and other classroom and office furniture.
- Inspects all washrooms, hallways, change rooms and stairways to ensure safety and cleanliness
- Monitors and removes garbage from school grounds, the surrounding area, and parkade
- Monitors and replaces consumable supplies in dispensers (hand sanitizer, toilet paper, paper towels, soap, etc)
- Sanitizes high touch surfaces throughout the school, including door knobs, light switches, railings, desks, phones.
- Identifies facility or maintenance issues and reports them to the Facilities Manager on a timely basis
- Quickly responds to requests for service from faculty and staff
- Secures building doors and locks at night

**Skills, Education and Work Experience**:

- Previous experience working in a Janitorial or maintenance role
- Can operate heavy cleaning equipment, including scrubbers, waxers, and carpet extractors
- A Building Service Worker Certificate is preferred
- WHMIS certification or knowledge
- A valid first aid certificate (BC Occupational First Aid Level 1) is preferred, or willing to receive First Aid training
- Able to work on weekends or overtime, when required
