**Now Hiring: Legislative Officer (Competition #23-44)**

Parkland County has an opportunity for a _permanent, full-time _Legislative Officer position in the Strategic Services department. Reporting to the Manager, Legislative Services, the Legislative Officer facilitates the preparation, execution and follow up from Council and Governance and Priorities Committee meetings. The Legislative Officer coordinates insurance administration claims and risk management, manages the public committee recruitment process, serves as the first point of contact for Subdivision & Development Appeal requests, facilitates the hearing process, and serves as the Recording Secretary.
- Diploma in Office/Business Administration, Municipal Government, Public Administration, or related field is required. A certificate in Local Government Studies or equivalent would be considered an asset.
- Decision making and decision writing education would be considered an asset.
- Minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a municipal environment is required.
- Experience working in a public sector organization, and/or legal firm would be considered an asset. Experience working with Parliamentarian and Robert’s Rules of Order, electronic meeting management software, claims and risk management, and/or clerking appeals in a quasi-judicial setting would be considered an asset.
- Certified Subdivision and Development Appeal Board Clerk is required.
- Commissioner for Oaths appointment is required.
- Membership in, or the ability to obtain membership in, the Alberta Municipal Clerks Association would be an asset.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and ability to communicate comfortably with all staff, Council and Board members is required.
- Possession of a valid Alberta driver’s license and satisfactory driving record is required.

**The total rewards package for this position includes**:
A starting annual salary of $66,651 - $83,314 based on a 35-hour work week and option to join the Earned Day Off Program.
