This position reports directly to the Food Service Manager and is an active member of the multidisciplinary team and is responsible for preparing, cooking and serving meals. All duties are carried out in accordance with the Long Term Care Homes Act and regulations, Public Health regulations and our departmental policies and procedures
Duties include, but not limited to, prepare, cook and modify meals based on standardized recipes, production documentation and residents specific diet orders and preferences. Maintain a sanitary and safe working environment. Attend meetings and complete mandatory education as required. Assist in the training and orientation of new dietary staff. Other duties as assigned by Food Service Manager.
Qualifications:
- Must be actively enrolled in or have completed Chef Training or Culinary Management Diploma from an approved college.
- Must have a Food Safety Handlers Certificate from the local Public Health Unit.
- Experience in long-term care or institutional cooking considered an asset.
- Must have understanding of good sanitation and food handling techniques.
- Must be knowledgeable with respect to the nutritional and other appropriate needs of geriatric residents
- Must be knowledgeable with respect to legislation and ministry requirements
- Will have a past work history and experience that demonstrates maturity, initiative, reliability, eagerness to learn and ability to work with other employees co-operatively and be able to follow directions.
- Must have the ability to direct dietary functions during the absence of the Food Services Supervisor.
- Will be in good physical and mental health, allowing him/her to tolerate constant standing and walking during working periods, able to lift and tolerate temperature changes.

**Job Type**: Part-time
Part-time hours: 15-22.5 per week
**Salary**: From $23.40 per hour
