Mary Centre is a community-based organization that provides support services designed to enhance the quality of life of people with developmental disabilities and their families. For many years, Mary Centre has been helping people with developmental disabilities to work towards greater self-confidence and personal independence so they can take part in fulfilling educational, employment and life experiences.
Mary Centre is currently seeking people to fill Part Time Direct Support Professional positions. The Direct Support Professionals will provide direct care, support and supervision for people with a developmental disability living in a community setting according to the mission, values and principles of Mary Centre.
**Location**: Toronto, Ontario
**Working Conditions**: Flexible hours based on program needs. Days, Evenings, Overnight Awake, weekends and holidays will be required.
**Qualifications**
Community College Diploma in Developmental Services or related University or College Degree in Social or Health services. Minimum two (2) years experience working or volunteering with people with a developmental disability.
**Mandatory Requirements**:
- Possess a Valid Ontario Driver’s License class G.
- Valid First Aid/CPR Certificate
- Valid Designated Physical Restraints Training Program Certificate
- Computer Skills - Microsoft Word and Excel
- Clear vulnerable sector police check
- Acceptable proof of full COVID-19 vaccination must be provided
**Key Responsibilities**
- Provide direct support to people with developmental disabilities.
- Ability to perform tasks involving physical activity, including lifting, bending and prolonged standing.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and writing skills
- Excellent organizational and prioritizing skills
- Professionalism, exercise good judgment and discretion in dealing with confidential information.
- Must be able to function as part of a multidisciplinary team. Participate in shift changes and Team Meetings as required, share information in a respectful and nonjudgmental manner
- Experience working with people with a Dual Diagnosis, Behavioral Challenges and Complex Medical Issues
- Knowledge on how to implement and follow Behavior Support Plans. Provide appropriate professional understanding and intervention in response to emotional, behavioral, and physical needs of people.
- Proven knowledge of developmental disabilities and able to provide personal care.
- Knowledge of Passport Funding
- Knowledge of Individual Support Plans
- Ability to work with people with changing needs and routines
- Experience and ability to interact with families and community partners
- Ability to keep work environment up to Health and Safety Standards
- French language skills will be considered an asset

COVID-19 considerations:
All employees required to wear Personal Protective Equipment at all times while on shift. Enhanced cleaning and disinfecting procedures in place. All recommended Public Health Measures are in place.
