**Responsibilities**:
PRIMARY PURPOSE
Supports the Manager by overseeing the day-to-day operation of the training delivery functions of Training Department, including selection, coaching and performance management of employees, liaising with different departments within CMBC and TransLink to provide effective, safe and reliable training services for designated target audiences, including conventional and community shuttle transit operators, in accordance with ICBC specifications, National Safety Code, legislative, municipal and corporate standards. Supports the CMBC incident adjudication process by implementing driving related training initiatives to enhance driver performance and customer safety.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
Supports the Manager by overseeing the day-to-day operation of the training delivery functions of the Training Department, liaising with different departments within CMBC and TransLink to provide effective, safe and reliable training services for designated target audiences, including conventional and community shuttle transit operators, in accordance with ICBC specifications, National Safety Code, legislative, municipal and corporate standards.
In consultation with the Manager and department management team, provides direction to the Chief Instructor, instructional and support staff involved in the development, maintenance and delivery of all designated training services, projects, and initiatives, including initial, certification, refresher, remedial and technical change training. Supports the Manager in the development of the annual training plan and management of the Training Department budget.
Exercises alternate ICBC-approved signing authority for the issuance of Class 2 and Class 4 unrestricted licenses and air brake certifications in absence of the Manager.
Builds strong working relationships with a diverse group of technical and business stakeholders. Participates in team meetings, committees, and programs to learn new information and to develop working relationships with other specialists in training, throughout the Enterprise.
In collaboration with the Manager, departmental management team and department staff, makes recommendations for continuous improvement in training, developing and leading project implementation plans to achieve departmental and corporate goals and initiatives. Represents the training department on designated functional working groups and committees, engaging with and supporting internal and external customers.
Supports the CMBC Incident Adjudication Process involving revenue and non-revenue vehicles, by recommending, implementing, and managing projects, plans and initiatives in support of improving driving performance among transit operators.
Manages reporting staff, including involvement in selection, coaching, development, and performance management. Executes day-to-day managerial activities including monitoring of workloads, adjusting, scheduling the distribution of work, and carries out the more complex elements of the work, when required.
**Qualifications**:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
The requirements for this job are acquired through a completion of an undergraduate degree in business or operations management and certification courses in adult education and/or instructional design from a recognized institute of technology plus six (6) years of related experience in training on a complete range of training programs preferably in a large organization.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Strong interpersonal, writing, communications, and teambuilding skills.
Advanced knowledge of the concepts, principles, practices, and techniques pertaining to operational and technical training programs.
Advanced working knowledge of relevant safety regulations and internal policies and procedures.
Strong planning and organizational skills to plan develop and implement multiple projects/programs related to training.
