**FAMILY OUTREACH SPECIALIST**

The Family Outreach Specialist is responsible for the development and delivery of programs & services, working collaboratively as part of Mareas interdisciplinary team of Therapists, Case Managers and Specialized Support Workers, in supporting children and families with complex issues. This includes assessing need, planning, and achieving positive outcomes for children and families.

**PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES**
- In collaboration with the Client Care Manager, conduct initial assessments with clients to coordinate and implement service plans as required.
- To visit individual parents and families at home, at the office or in the community to identify need and offer support as required.
- To contribute, support and encourage the participation of ‘hard to reach’ families, eliminating barriers to services.
- Develop and implement behaviour strategies to improve self-regulation using Applied Behaviour Analysis

Techniques, or other evidence-based modalities strategies such as DBT or CBT for children & youth.
- Manage program service delivery within assigned budget.
- Work cohesively and communicate effectively as part of Mareas’ holistic therapeutic team to ensure quality of services being delivered, adhering to working principles, philosophies, and policies & procedures of Mareas.
- Maintain accurate and concise case notes/documentation as required.
- Participate in meetings as required.

**SKILL & EFFORT**
- Effective interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to make decisions and problem-solve in high conflict or crisis situations.
- Ability to work independently within clearly defined policies and standards with limited supervision.
- Work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
- Ability to prioritize and organize schedules and appointments.
- Ability to organize and maintain documentation in accordance with Mareas policies & procedures.
- Effective report writing and editing.
- Computer skills, specifically with Microsoft Office Suite and data management.

**QUALIFICATIONS**
- Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work or human services or diploma in the following areas BSW, CYC,

SSW, DSW, or EA in combination with 10+ years of servicing children & families
- Must have a minimum of 5yrs. experience working directly with Children/Youth & their families.
- Must have a minimum of 2 yrs. experience creating, implementing, and following Behaviour Plans.
- Experience working collaboratively with families and clinical team.
- Training and working knowledge of Trauma and Attachment is required.

**WORKING CONDITIONS/EXPECTATIONS**
- Available to work within the Niagara, Hamilton, Brant, and Haldimand-Norfolk Regions as required.
- Must be able to work effectively and independently within the designated regions to which applicant has been assigned.
- Willingness to attend meetings with community partners such as schools, placement agencies, referral agencies to discuss progress and strategies for clients.
- Must be able to work independently in client homes and within the community.
- Must have a flexible schedule and able to meet with children, youth, and families at various times, primarily when children are available (after school hours and weekends)
- The following physical components will be required for this position: driving to all assigned client locations, walking, ability to work shifts that are minimum of 3 hours in length.
- The following components may be required for this position: behaviour management, crisis management/response, verbal and physical de-escalation using approved training, physical activity with children or youth.
- Must have a clear Vulnerable Person Police Clearance
- Required to meet (virtual or in person) as required with Client Care Manager to review progress of clients and participate in regular team meetings and training.
- Must participate in Mareas orientation and Essential Skills training prior to starting with clients.
- Valid Driver’s License and accessibility to safe & reliable vehicle is usually needed for shifts.
- Driver’s abstract with valid car insurance with $2,000,000 liability.
