**Job Description - Payroll and Bookkeeping Specialist**

Over the last year, we have been experiencing substantial growth and are looking to add a
**Payroll & Bookkeeping Specialist** to support our clients who operate in a wide range of industries. We are looking for an independent specialist with strong analytical and problem
- solving skills. They must have an entrepreneurial mind set, a strong attention to detail and the ability to stay organized while meeting tight deadlines. This is a virtual position with flexible work hours.

**_Payroll _**:

- _ **Receiving payroll onboarding packages and sets up new employees, reinstates rehires, while ensuring all data is accurate and filled correctly and all required documentation is included. Contacts appropriate supervisors for any missing information**
- Enrolling employees to benefit plan and answers questions with regard to answering any staff queries regarding benefits, timesheets, T4s and/ or pay slips and providing a reference when unable to answer the questions
- Producing monthly hourly reporting
- Processes employee terminations and lay-offs in a timely manner, prepare and file

Record of Employment (ROE)
- Work with client to ensure that the payroll needs of each employee are met on time and with accuracy.
- Prepare WCB account balancing, reporting and annual returns
- Prepares and reconciles all year end reporting and issue T4 slips in a timely manner
- Ensures that all payroll is in compliances with government agencies (i.e.,

Employment Standards) in each jurisdiction in which the company operates.
- Maintaining confidentiality of all employee records and payroll information;
- Coordinates monthly payment of employee RRSP contributions to the Bank;
**_Bookkeeping _**
- Perform payroll functions in an accurate and timely manner, and submit payroll taxes
- Conduct reconciliation of all accounts, on an as needed basis
- Maintain and balance the general ledger in an accurate, complete, and up-to-date manner
- Perform all activities related to the accounts payable function including reviewing, coding, and processing payments
- Perform account receivable functions including invoicing, deposits, collections, and revenue recognition
- Prepare financial reports through collection, analysis, and summarization of data
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 3 - 5 years of experience doing payroll and full cycle bookkeeping
- Strong IT skills with an ability to prepare and communicate data
- Ability to work on multiple projects while prioritising multiple demands while adhering to tight deadlines
- Ability to work with a variety of accounting and payroll software
- Ability to communicate financial data with clients
- Accurate data entry skills, with a strong understanding of math and numbers
- Proactive, creative approach to problem solving
- Familiarity with the general principles of accounting
- Strong willingness to learn
- knowledge of current methods, practices, and terminology used in payroll, and financial and statistical record keeping
- Have access to a computer and printer/scanner
- A clean police check is required

- Salary of $1,755 to $1,885.00 per month. Any additional hours would be paid between

$27 - $29.00/hr

**Salary**: $26.00-$29.00 per hour
