About the Senate
The Senate plays a unique role in shaping our country’s democracy. As members of the upper house of Parliament, senators examine legislation, study public policy, champion causes and conduct interparliamentary diplomacy.

Build and advance your career by joining a team of dedicated professionals who are committed to excellence in support of senators and the institution.
How will you contribute?
The Parliamentary Reporter (French) reports Senate proceedings verbatim in real time, by means of a stenograph machine and computer-aided transcription (CAT) to be incorporated in the Debates of the Senate, the proceedings of its committees and conferences hosted by the Senate.
The successful incumbent will also complete the sub-editing of the transcripts of these proceedings, provide a Communication Access Realtime Translation service (CART), provide a real-time captioning service of Senate proceedings, manage a personal CAT dictionary database, and revise the Debates of the Senate for the bound volumes. The sub-editing of transcripts is performed using Eclipse software and an in-house production tool (Iris).
