**_ Position Summary_**
The Youth and Family Support Facilitator supports youth between the ages of 13-18 and their families using trauma informed and strength based strategies that best meet their needs. The position aids the participant in identifying and understanding personal and/or family issues and in establishing and achieving specific, attainable goals. Hours of work will be flexible to ensure participants have access to support.
**_ Position_**: Full Time 35 Hours per week
**_ Wage:_** $28.96 - 33.75 per hour
For positions of 24 hours or more per week we offer Health & Wellness benefits after a 3 month probationary period. In addition, positions that are 35 + hours per week are contributors to the Municipal Pension Plan.

Qualifications _**
- Education and experience_
- Bachelor degree in child and youth care, social work or psychology
- Three years of experience working with youth and families with complex needs
- Job sk_ills and abilities_
- Well-developed interpersonal, counselling, oral and written skills
- Strong understanding of Trauma Informed Practice
- Understands impact of colonization, residential schools and resulting intergenerational trauma in indigenous communities
- Knowledge of 2SLGBTQIA+ issues
- Incorporates positive youth development and a strengths based approach
- Knowledge of parenting skills and child/youth development
- Promote relational building activities and healthy communication skills
- Knowledge of issues related to family violence and impact on family development
- Knowledge of issues related to child abuse, including sexual abuse and neglect
- Strong knowledge of the bio-psycho-social factors that affect mental wellness including substance use
- Strong conflict management, resolution and crisis response skills
- Proficient knowledge of group process and facilitation technique
- Ability to work effectively with participants, program team and other community professionals
- Good time management skills including ability to work independently

- Ability to provide proof of COVID-19 vaccination
- Valid Unrestricted BC Driver’s license and use of reliable vehicle
- Community Care Emergency First Aid Certificate - preferred
- Non Violent Crisis Intervention - preferred
- Mental Health First Aid - preferred
- Naloxone Training
