**The Beaufort Family Health Society is hiring for a Medical Office Assistant at Cumberland Village Health Care,** a community-led family practice clinic located in Cumberland, BC. We have seven Nurse Practitioners, a Clinic Manager, and two full-time MOAs. As a Primary Care Network (PCN) clinic, we also have a full-time RN, part-time social worker, part-time mental health counselor and part-time dietician. We are now looking for a third MOA for five days (up to 40 hours) per week (Monday to Friday) to support our busy and growing practice.

**Qualifications**
- minimum one (1) year experience working in a healthcare office/clinic setting (MOA certificate or a combination of relevant work experience and education)
- proficiency with EMR software/scheduling software, and standard office equipment
- ability to remain calm and communicate effectively under pressure
- ability to effectively prioritize tasks and manage a multi-line phone system

**Responsibilities**

Patient Care
- schedules appointments, greets and checks-in patients and ushers patients to exam rooms
- assists new patients with registration paperwork (medical history, consent forms etc.)
- ensures patient confidentiality at all times, whether speaking to patients in person or on the phone, discussing patient care with colleagues, or accessing information.

Practitioner Support
- fulfills practitioner requests promptly
- maintains appointment schedules for all practitioners (as well as allied health providers)
- ensures exam rooms are clean, sanitized and ready for each new patient / appointment type
- stocks exam rooms with necessary supplies
- maintains inventory of supplies for medical and office equipment
- performs all other related administrative tasks as required

Communications
- reviews incoming faxes throughout the day and assigns them to the appropriate provider(s)
- fills out all patient/ practitioner forms with accuracy and attention to detail
- communicates and cooperates with other healthcare facilities as needed

Patient Charts
- creates and maintains patient charts in the EMR with accuracy and strong attention to detail
- scans and uploads patient documents into the EMR in a timely manner
- processes payments with POS system when required and completes recordkeeping with accuracy

Patient Procedures
- measures patients' vitals (Ht/Wt/BP/Urinalysis)
- prepares patient specimens according to laboratory requirements and coordinates sample pickups
- sets up exam rooms for procedures
- completes instrument sterilization, operates Autoclav and maintains log for compliance with clinic guidelines
