**Job Description and Key Responsibilities**:
West Bay Shipyards is currently seeking a Mechanical Service Technician. The chosen individual will posses problem-solving skills, mechanical aptitude and the ability to work in tight spaces - essential for this position. A Service Technician is exposed to a vast variety of tasks, such as, but not limited to: Servicing, maintenance, and installation of a variety of systems (plumbing, hydraulics, stabilization, diesel power and generator power, hardware fitting on high-end luxury yachts. In addition, the new construction on our yacht production line requires additional installers.

Key Responsibilities:
Learning and training:

- Participate in hands-on training sessions along side technicians to understand marine mechanical systems.
- Study and understand mechanical schematics and technical manuals.

Assisting with Installations:

- Help install / service system components & hardware.
- Support the removal & installation of components to allow other trades to complete tasks.

Maintenance and Repair:

- Assist in diagnosing and repairing mechanical issues on the vessel/facility.
- Help with routine maintenance tasks to ensure systems have been properly serviced and quality controlled.

Safety and Compliance:

- Use personal protective equipment (PPE) and follow safety procedures during all tasks.

Documentation and Reporting:

- Keep detailed records of work performed, including installations, repairs, and maintenance activities.
- Assist in preparing reports on the condition of mechanical systems and any issues encountered.
- Document the use of materials and tools for inventory and record-keeping purposes.

Assisting with Upgrades:

- Support the upgrade of older mechanical systems to meet current marine standards.
- Assist with integrating new technologies and systems into existing mechanical frameworks.

Teamwork and collaboration:

- Work under the supervision of experienced marine technicians & shipwrights.
- Collaborate with other apprentices and team members to complete tasks efficiently.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues to ensure tasks are completed accurately and safely.

Continuous Improvement:

- Stay updated on the latest advancements in marine mechanical systems and technologies.
- Seek feedback from supervisors and experienced technicians to improve skills and knowledge.
- Actively participate in learning opportunities and strive for professional growth in the field.

**Qualifications**:

- Minimum of 3 years mechanical experience, preferably marine/diesel engine related or system installation: hydraulic, plumbing, generators.
- Mechanical aptitude
- Excellent attention to detail
- Strong organizational skills
- Strong time management skills
- Positive attitude, flexible, and a team player
- Strong communication (English - Written & Verbal)

**Education / Training**
- Apprenticeship opportunity open for discussion.

**Hourly Wage**
- The wage is determined by previous experience and skillset.

Pay: $27.00-$32.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 40 per week
