ASSISTANT CONTROLLER

We are currently seeking an experienced Assistant Controller who will contribute to the growth and development of the company by assisting with the development, implementation and execution of financial policies, procedures, strategies, and systems.

This role is located on-site to support our London, Ontario facility and will report to the Controller.

SHIFT STRUCTURE

This role will primarily work Monday to Friday, day shift, however work outside of standard working hours is required as needed, in order to effectively support the location's 24/7 operation.

HOW YOU WILL MAKE CONTRIBUTIONS THAT MATTER- Promote a Health and Safety, Food Safety and GMP Culture by adhering to company standards at all times.- Provide oversight on the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable process, supporting the Accounting Clerk as needed and reporting on status to the Controller.- Ensure timely closing on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Prepare, analyze and present monthly, quarterly and annual financial statements on entity and consolidated basis.- Ensure the accuracy of Inventory in collaboration with Operations.- Monthly bank reconciliation of multiple accounts - daily monitoring of account balances.- Manage foreign exchange transactions and inter-company transactions.- Responsible for preparing bi-weekly payroll and calculating source deductions and remittances.- Assist department heads with budget and forecasting needs as required.- Assist with year-end audit by preparing working papers for external auditors and supporting audit inquiries.- Partner with Operations Group to define, measure, analyze, and optimize current administrative processes and reporting requirements.- Complete government remittances, government reporting and the preparation of ongoing tax filings (HST, source deductions, etc.)- Analyze and interpret financial data, including variances, trends, and other key performance indicators.- Stay current with changes in accounting regulations and standards, and implement necessary changes to ensure compliance.- Support tracking and reporting requirements for ESG and sustainability requirements.- Other related duties and required or assigned.

WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TABLE- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field; accounting designation considered an asset.- Minimum of 5 years work experience in comparable and progressive roles; experience in a manufacturing environment considered an asset.- Extensive experience and knowledge of all aspects of corporate accounting and financial management.- Thorough knowledge of all relevant Federal, Provincial and local requirements regarding financial records, pension, profit sharing, and the like is essential.- Proficient communication, interpersonal and organizational skills are vital to the role.- Advanced knowledge of MS Office, Excel, G-Suite and ERP Systems is required.- Able to work efficiently as a part of a team as well as independently.- High level of critical and logical thinking, analysis, and/or reasoning to identify underlying principles, reasons, or facts.- Able to work well under pressure and meet set deadlines.- Strong Attention to detail in all areas of work.
