A well-established manufacturer with operations in Canada and the U.S. is looking to add a new role to their exceptional team. The Role Reporting to the Director of Finance, the Assistant Controller will take ownership of the full accounting cycle, ensuring accuracy, efficiency, and compliance across financial operations. Leading a small team, this role will be responsible for general ledger integrity, month- and year-end closing, internal controls, and financial reporting, while working closely with operations and senior management to support data-driven decisions. The successful candidate will also play a key role in standardizing processes, supporting system improvements, and contributing to the organization’s budgeting, forecasting, and cost accounting frameworks. This position is ideal for a hands‑on, detail‑oriented professional who thrives in a fast‑paced manufacturing environment and is motivated by both operational involvement and strategic impact. Key Responsibilities Lead and oversee day-to-day accounting operations including AP, AR, GL, and payroll. Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and compliance with GAAP. Prepare financial statements, reconciliations, and management reports for review by leadership. Collaborate with operations to analyze production costs, inventory valuation, and margin performance. Drive improvements in internal controls, accounting policies, and process efficiencies. Support budget preparation, forecasting, and variance analysis in partnership with management. Coordinate annual audit and tax filing activities with external partners. Participate in ongoing ERP enhancement and reporting optimization projects. Mentor and develop team members to ensure effective performance and career progression. The Ideal Candidate CPA designation or close to completion of CPA Minimum 5-7 years of progressive accounting and/or FP&A experience Strong working knowledge of GAAP; exposure to IFRS would be a significant asset Experience in Manufacturing/Food/CPG or other Industrial environments (solid understanding of cost accounting principles, including standard costing and variance analysis) Extreme proficiency with ERPs and Advanced Excel skills.
