Print Production and Mass Mailing Services within the Enterprise Logistics and Print Branch has an exciting opportunity for an organized, dedicated individual to provide first level client services and technical problem-solving for the print and mass mailing and cheque printing/mailing operations. You will provide technical leadership to Print and Mass Mailing Machine Operators regarding the operation of high-volume print and mass mailing equipment, including secure production of printed cheques, within a large-scale print and mass mailing centre(s), including mainframe, in a multi-shift, restricted and secure environment. What can I expect to do in this role? **In this position, you will**: - co-ordinate activities between the operators, assign tasks, deploy and redeploy staff, monitor work-flow; guide and train group members in technical aspects of their jobs and orient new team members; - load/strip, prepare and set up print and mass mailing equipment, monitor, interpret and respond to error messages to resolve equipment issues, perform routine troubleshooting and adjustments; - liaise and consult with clients to review, assess and document print and mass mailing requests; advise clients of costs regarding work orders; - control, set up and operate high-speed print, fold, and insert machines, including the use of bar-code scanners and photographic equipment and related software; program the equipment for various job types to meet the specific requirements for each print and mass mailing job; - ensure work orders are correctly invoiced back to clients; prepare and provide financial/production/reconciliation reports; - provide on-going business improvement support to management by identifying areas of improvement and recommending new and revised procedures and best practices; - monitor inventory to ensure accurate stock and adequate stock levels of materials and products required for print and mass mailing operation; - maintain a safe and healthy work environment by following standards and procedures, complying with legal regulations and ensuring the areas are kept clean and tidy; - participate in testing, evaluation, implementation and maintenance of new and upgraded software/hardware, including analyzing data used for testing procedures. How do I qualify? **Technical Knowledge and Skills**: - You have knowledge of technical computer operational principles, standards and practices, particularly for controlling various types of high-speed print and mass mailing equipment. - You have experience operating various mass mail/print technology systems and output equipment, including printing techniques using inkjet and digital technologies. - You are proficient with using various software (e.g. Street Sweeper, FlexStream, Ricoh ProcessDirector,) to monitor and/or operate the machines and process data from various document sources for high-volume printing and mass mailing (e.g. specialized mainframe document formats (AFP), PDF files). - You have knowledge of equipment performance and maintenance standards and operational guidelines to respond to equipment control messages, and to monitor and ensure equipment maintenance requirements are met. - You have knowledge of Canada Post standards and regulations (e.g. mail classes, postage rates and price discount requirements). - You have knowledge of relevant privacy and security standards and regulations for safeguarding sensitive and highly confidential information, (e.g. Freedom of Information and Protection of Privacy Act (FIPPA)), privacy breach protocols and best practices. - You have knowledge of policies and best practices regarding quality control and security of printed cheques. - You have knowledge of safety standards, procedures and regulations for safe operation of all machinery and visible electrical connections to educate staff and ensure compliance with Occupational Health and Safety Act requirements. **Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills**: - You can identify, investigate and resolve errors, inconsistencies and discrepancies. - You can reconcile production orders, perform quality assurance, review information and scrutinize data from a range of sources to ensure quality outcomes. - You can determine the nature and quantity of materials requi
