**Position: Chief Executive Officer (CEO)**
**Status: Permanent Full-time**
**The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to both Metro Vancouver Aboriginal Executive Council (MVAEC) and Metro Vancouver Indigenous Services Society (MVISS) sister societies which have the same Board of Directors. MVAEC is a unified voice of Indigenous organizations to strategically plan, advocate and positively influence outcomes that strengthen the service delivery and policies that impact the Metro Vancouver urban Indigenous community. MVAEC elects a Board of Directors to govern the activities of both agencies and to represent their interests. The Board is made up of the most senior executive of Indigenous community agencies.**
**MVISS offers individual, family, and group counselling using culturally based, trauma-informed practice to Indigenous people in the area of Metro Vancouver north of the Fraser River. It provides outreach, community development and capacity building as well as Indigenous cultural-competency training for non-Indigenous staff who serve Indigenous people.**
**The CEO is directly accountable to the Board of Directors for the performance of their duties. The CEO is the most senior employee of the organization with the principal duty to ensure the delivery of contract outcomes, community outcomes and financial sustainability. The CEO provides leadership, management and supervision for all aspects of the MVAEC operation. This position requires an energetic and visionary leader who can build on the core procedures, policies and relationships of this complex organization in a new environment of intergovernmental cooperation.**
**The CEO will**:

**Ensure compliance with the MVAEC policies and procedures for all MVAEC community consultation processes, programs, services and reporting.**
**-**
**Plan, develop and implement urban Indigenous community consultation processes, programs and services consistent with MVAEC strategic directions.**
**-**
**Prepare summary reports of programs and services including recommendations for improvement and change.**
**-**
**Develop and administer annual budgets and manage accounting controls and procedures.**
**-**
**Prepare funding proposals, submit required funding reports and maintain ongoing positive relationships with funding sources.**
**-**
**Maintain financial risk management policies and procedures.**
**-**
**Facilitate continuous strategic planning, including annual resource allocation and service delivery plans.**
**-**
**Liaise with First Nations, Metis and municipal, provincial and federal governments and program and service providers to express the interests of the urban Indigenous community.**
**-**
**Act as a resource to the Board to ensure consultation on significant issues affecting the development and delivery of urban Indigenous community programs and services.**

**Desired Qualifications**:

**A master's degree in public administration, finance, economics, law or social sciences.**
**-**
**Three years of senior management experience.**
**-**
**Demonstrated ability to design and implement strategic and systems management for the development of an organization.**

**Demonstrated leadership and human resources management skills and an ability to develop and maintain effective work teams.**
**-**
**Experience in planning, developing, implementing and evaluating programs and services.**
**-**
**Demonstrated ability to build effective relationships and partnerships within MVAEC, all orders of government and Indigenous communities.**
**-**
**Strong oral and written communication skills. Ability to communicate effectively with individuals and groups in a variety of situations including stressful and sensitive situations.**
**-**
**Strong financial management skills. Knowledge of fundamental management systems such as performance planning and management and resource allocation.**
**-**
**Demonstrated decision making ability and an understanding of organizational governance.**
**-**
**Preference will be given to qualified Indigenous applicants.**
**Terms**:

**Hours: Monday to Friday from 8:30 am to 4:30 pm**
**Location: Hybrid with some in office and some work from home flexibility**
**Salary: In the range of $95,000 to $145,000 per year, based on qualifications.**
