- Reporting to the Regional Manager, Health Safety and Prevention, and working closely with the Coordinator, Health and Safety (Travel Resource Pool), the Lead is responsible to plan and guide implementation of occupational health and safety programming and services for the provincial Travel Resource Pool, ensuring that regulatory requirements of BC’s Occupational Health and Safety Regulation (OHSR) and Workers Compensation Act are met. Under the direction of the Regional Manager, Health Safety and Prevention, and working collaboratively with the Health Safety & Prevention Program Governance team, the Lead, Health & Safety (TRP) creates an inter-health authority work plan, develops a framework of fundamental occupational health and safety components, integrates systems and processes into Northern Health’s safety management system and builds effective relationships with the other Health Authority stakeholders to promote a culture that ensures high standards of safety and compliance with WorkSafeBC legislation.**Prince George** has a population of 89,490 (2021) local residents and is a service centre for approximately 320,000. **Qualifications**
- Bachelor’s degree in the sciences preferably in a health and/or occupational health and safety related discipline, and Diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, or other related discipline.
- Five (5) to seven (7) years recent related experience in Occupational Health and Safety including a minimum of two (2) years of experience in project management or healthcare leadership.
- Experience with large-scale organizational change efforts.
- Or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
- Current registration with appropriate professional licensing body (CRSP, CSP) or ability to attain within six months.
- Valid Class 5 BC Driving License.
**Skills and Abilities**:
- Demonstrated critical thinking and problems solving skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze data/results and processes to identify potential health, safety and wellness concerns and conduct appropriate analyses.
- Ability to promote and develop opportunities for research and evaluation to ensure evidence based best practices in relation to employee and workplace health and safety.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and make decisions for improvements, projects and change involving multiple stakeholders.
- Demonstrated ability to provide a customer-focused approach to service delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to independently identify issues, plan improvements, measure success and continue improvement.
- Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation and principles of management, Joint Health & Safety Committees, conflict management and resolution, system needs analysis and organizational assessment.
- Ability to use tact and discretion in dealing with health care providers and employees.
- Demonstrated excellent computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office software (e.g. Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook), and patient / employee information systems.
- Demonstrated superior interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Demonstrated commitment to the safety of co-workers and patients.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to organize and prioritize work and balance multiple activities concurrently.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, objectively, and effectively in groups, one-on-one and in writing to a variety of audiences.
