**Who We Are**
The Mikisew Cree First Nation (Mikisew) has lived on the ancestral lands of the Athabasca Delta and Wood Buffalo National Park in northeastern Alberta since time immemorial. The lives of our members are linked to the land and to a close understanding of traditions, history, and a natural way of life. Many of our members live in the hamlet of Fort Chipewyan, and our traditional lands range over a large portion of Athabasca oil sand deposits. For nearly 30 years, our wholly-owned business arm has worked toward the long-term, sustainable economic progress of our Nation and its members through employment and significant investments in education, training, social programs, and infrastructure.
**Who You Are**
**Responsibilities**
- **Family Support**: Provide direct support to Indigenous families, addressing their unique needs and challenges through culturally sensitive and trauma-informed approaches.
- **Crisis Prevention**: Develop and implement prevention strategies to mitigate potential crises within families, working proactively to address underlying issues.
- **Cultural Responsiveness**: Infuse cultural practices and traditions into prevention programs, respecting and incorporating the diverse cultural backgrounds of the families served.
- **Community Collaboration**: Work collaboratively with community leaders, elders, and other service providers to create a network of support for families.
- **Education and Awareness**: Conduct workshops and educational sessions within the community to raise awareness about family wellness and prevention strategies.
- **Advocacy**: Advocate for the needs and rights of Indigenous families within various systems, ensuring culturally appropriate services are accessible.
- **Case Management**: Maintain accurate and confidential case records, documenting interventions and progress made with each family.
**Qualifications**
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within an Indigenous community context.
- Strong understanding of Indigenous cultures, traditions, and community dynamics.
- Knowledge of trauma-informed practices and prevention strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- CPR/First Aid
- Suicide intervention training
**Other Requirements**
- Possess a valid Class 5 AB driver’s license and own or access to a vehicle.
- Willingness and ability to travel to Fort Chipewyan as required.
- Willingness and ability to work after hours and/or weekends when required.
- Willingness to submit to an oath of confidentiality.
- Willing to work a flexible schedule. Combination of in-office and at-community locations.
- Must provide and possess a clear criminal record vulnerable sector check.
- Ability to speak and/or understand the Cree language (or another applicable First Nation language) would be beneficial.
**Job Types**: Full-time, Permanent
**Salary**: $20.00-$37.64 per hour
