**Job ID**: 54101 **Job Category**:Parks & Natural Resources **Division & Section**:Parks, Forestry & Recreation, PFR Parks **Work Location**:Various locations district wide, TBD **Job Type & Duration**:Full-Time, Permanent Vacancy **Salary**:$93,734.00 - $123,449.00 **Shift Information**: Monday to Friday, 6:30 am - 2:30 pm **Affiliation**: Non-Union **Number of Positions Open**: 5 **Posting Period**: 25-Apr-2025 to 09-May-2025 **Major Responsibilities**: Reporting to a General Supervisor Parks, the Supervisor's main function is to supervise, plan and deliver operations and maintenance services in support of all parks and related activities within a geographic area and or multiple Parks & Ravine assets within the City of Toronto. - Supervises the integrated operation and maintenance of parks, ravines, watercourses and open space within a designated are and or across multiple parks, which may include horticulture, turf management, artificial and natural ice rink operations, winter maintenance, general maintenance, managing parks events and other applicable disciplines. - Supervises the daily operation of maintenance and clean up of Ravines & Watercourses. - Supervises the day to day operation of all assigned staff including the scheduling, assigning and reviewing of work. Recommends to General Supervisor, the vacation and overtime requests for authorization. - Monitors and evaluates staff performance, approves salary increments, hears grievances and recommends/implements disciplinary action when necessary - Implements detailed plans and recommends policies/procedures regarding program specific requirement. - Supervises, motivates and trains assigned staff, ensuring effective teamwork, high standards of work quality, productivity and organizational performance. - Directs and monitors staff through on-site assessments of related work practices to ensure practices conform to relevant policies and procedures, established parks standards, legislation and regulations, including health and safety, asset and risk management, labour relations and Collective Bargaining Agreement. - Investigates conflicts, complaints and implements actions to successfully resolve issues. - Monitors work related to new park development and park renovation. - Communicates with staff across the Division to ensure consistency in delivery of service - Represents the Division/Branch on project committees and consults with senior management and local Councillors in the community. - Collects and analyses feedback and information obtained from multiple user groups in order to assess the need for park upgrades and standard maintenance practices and the implementation of new procedures for parks operation. - Provides input into and administers assigned budget, ensuring that expenditures are controlled and maintained within approved budget limitations - Ensures the effective maintenance of facilities, fleet / equipment repairs, replacements and upgrades and other physical resources. - Develops recommendations for the General Supervisor regarding changes to the on-going operation of parks maintenance, related services and facilities projects based on site evaluations. - Acts as a Supervisor under the definitions of the Occupational Health and Safety Act, and ensures that adequate training, safety equipment and safe work procedures are in place in order to develop a strong culture of Health and Safety and minimize any Health and Safety issues. **Key Qualifications**: - Post-secondary education in a discipline pertinent to the job function or equivalent combination of education and experience. - Considerable supervisory experience gained through progressively responsible positions in parks maintenance and operations and or ravines and watercouses. - Considerable experience directing or supervising in a diverse working environment (including union environment). - Experience in planning and organizing operational requirements to support special events, permits, and community engagement functions. - Must possess a valid Ontario Class "G" driver's license and ability to obtain a City driver's permit. - Excellent conflict resolution skills in dealing with public complaints and the ability to de-escalate potential volatile situations. - Ability to conduct inspections of facilities and operations, monitoring the state of good repair and ensures facilities, equipment, and supplies are available and meet health and safety standards and that Division policies and procedures are adhered to by all staff. - Ability to work as a team member in a dynamic complex environment, organize time and workload effectively, with the ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff, community agencies, the public, and other City Divisions. - Knowledge of Parks, and Recreation's policies and Protocols. - Knowledge in the core functions of the parks portfolio that may include horticulture, turf management, general maintenance, winter an
