This role is responsible for making an impact and moving inclusion and accessibility in the outdoors forward by educating the community and our stakeholders on best practices, approaches and philosophies around breaking down barriers, and creating an ability centered perspective.

Our Community Engagement and Education Lead, leads by example in integrating these approaches through program facilitation and building partnerships, acting as the primary point of communication and coordination for partners, participants, and the community.

**JOB RESPONSIBILITIES**:
Best Practices
- Develops, coordinates, and facilitates workshops in person and on virtual platforms
- Develop relationships and maintain primary coordination of community partners and participants to access programs and services
- Maintains a strong understanding of inclusion, workshop design, community events, outreach, and partnership development

Training and Development
- Researches, develops, and designs education curriculum and modules
- Customizes foundational workshop content for community partners based on their needs
- Facilitates and leads presentations and working groups
- Track and monitor developmental goals and outcomes for programs and services
- In collaboration with other team members, offers feedback to other organizations relating to their operations, marketing, and engagement strategies around best practices in accessibility and inclusion
- Educates on adaptive equipment and how to adapt or modify activities to support diverse abilities

People
- In collaboration with the program team, supports staff, students, volunteers, and other engaged groups to learn about inclusion and accessibility
- Supports co-workers, volunteers, and other invested groups; assists co-workers with their responsibilities as needed to run the day-to-day operations of the program department
- Contributes to a positive and dynamic working culture congruent with the values of Power To Be
- Adheres to all Power To Be policies and guidelines, and applicable legislation as they relate to staff and volunteer practices
- Supervises direct reports as assigned

Community
- Connects groups and individuals from the community to appropriate Power To Be or community services
- Actively engage in the local community through events, committees, and initiatives, developing opportunities for Power To Be to grow its’ sphere of influence
- Act as the hub of communication and coordination for community partners and participants
- Develops, monitors, and evaluates community partnerships and significant community relations initiatives
- Leads, develops, and promotes working relationships with internal and external partners, government agencies, and other invested groups to achieve stewardship outcomes

Program Facilitation
- Facilitates workshops, programs, and services in a way that is consistent with the mission, values, and policies of Power To Be
- Work in collaboration with other program department Leads to design goal-oriented programs and trainings for staff, volunteers, participants, and partners

Administration
- Designs, creates, and monitors virtual and in person workshop curriculum
- Builds and advance a scalable revenue strategy, budget, and costing structure linked to education delivery
- Implements, monitors, and tracks outcomes and objectives of services
- Understands and implements proper fiscal controls for program expenses
- Completes and submits all documentation in a timely fashion

Perform other related duties, as required.

**Requirements**:

- As per the Ministry of Justice requirements for organizations that work with vulnerable populations, a Criminal Record Check (CRC) and Criminal Record Review Act Check (CRRA) will be required
- Minimum of two years of experience facilitating an education sharing programming
- Experience working with people that live with a barrier, disability, or other significant life challenge(s), and/or youth and family work
- Highly organized, detail oriented
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deliver projects on schedule
- Demonstrated basic competency in outdoor pursuits
- Demonstrated proficiency in administrative functions and computer use including MS Office Suite
- Proof of full vaccination against Covid-19

**Assets**:

- Lived experience of a barrier to accessing nature and outdoor recreation
- Current CPR-C, OFA, or WFA first aid certification
- Valid class 4 drivers license or valid class 5 drivers license with a minimum of two years safe driving ex
