The Supervisor, Warehouse & Onboard Logistics is responsible for the direct oversight of Shipyard warehousing and Logistics activities, for materials and equipment, in support of new ship construction and outfitting at Seaspan Vancouver Shipyards (VSY).

The position is accountable for the safe and secure receipt, inventory management, On-board ship logistics and returns from vessel to Inventory. The position works closely with procurement, production control and shipyard operations team members to ensure accurate and timely receipt of incoming materials and equipment, and issuance to various production locations in the shipyard and on-board vessels to allow trades to focus on building ships.

**Note: Due to business needs, this position is required to be fully on-site based at 50 Pemberton Avenue, North Vancouver.**

**What you'll do**
- Supervise up to 10 unionized direct reports by setting objectives, assigning tasks, providing training and coaching, managing time off, evaluating performance, and administering discipline when required.
- Oversee scheduling and execution of all inbound and outbound freight, including receiving, inventory control, order picking, and delivery of materials from VSY, suppliers, and subcontractors to point-of-use or yard personnel.
- Coordinating material rigging on the pier to facilitate loading and unloading.
- Manage daily operations of the Central Warehouse, including the service counter supporting construction and repair activities.
- Monitor inventory stored at external supplier and subcontractor locations, ensuring timely coordination and transport of critical materials to the shipyard.
- Coordinate vendor-managed inventory and line-side store replenishment with Procurement and designated suppliers.
- Allocate work based on skill, capacity, and available tools to maximize efficiency, cost-effectiveness, and accuracy.
- Closely monitor high-value or time-critical material transfers, orders, and receipts.
- Plan and maintain adequate warehouse staffing levels aligned with shift requirements and skill demands in a unionized environment.
- Maintain accurate inventory through regular physical counts, variance reconciliation, and timely data entry.
- Investigate and resolve inventory discrepancies, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Ensure proper operation and maintenance of warehouse equipment through adherence to operating protocols, scheduled maintenance, and coordination of repairs.
- Optimize warehouse layout and space utilization to prevent material loss or damage and improve operational efficiency.
- Enforce and promote all safety policies and procedures to maintain a clean, hazard-free work environment.
- Demonstrate and uphold high ethical standards, serving as a role model within the organization.
- Perform additional duties and projects as assigned by management.

**What you'll bring**
- Grade 12 High School Diploma.
- Minimum of 7 years demonstrated warehousing operations experience in a manufacturing environment, with minimum 3 years at a supervisory level.
- Experience of heavy manufacturing/shipbuilding is an advantage
- Demonstrated ability to supervise a minimum of 4 unionized warehouse employees
- Professional certification or enrolment in an accredited institution such as the BCIT Materials Management certification or The Association for Operations Management (APICS).
- Transportation of Dangerous Goods certificate (ground and air).
- Take into account full implications of size, weight, and other factors when allocating storage space.
- Demonstrated track record in leading a highly functioning team.
- Knowledge and background in the ongoing operation of warehousing which supports a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in defining warehouse processes and procedures, staff recruitment, training and performance management.
- Thorough knowledge of WorkSafe BC safety regulations as they pertain to warehouse operations and handling of hazardous materials.
- Maintain appropriate and complete documentation regarding regulated products and/or hazardous materials.
- Demonstration of exemplary business ethics, integrity and honesty in all situations.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Intermediate level computer skills including Microsoft Office suite (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Access).
- Ability to work effectively under highly demanding schedules with limited direction and function as a key team member.
- Strong customer service, communication, organizational, analytical and supervisory skills.
- Ability to build sound working relationships with hourly associates while managing collective agreement requirements.
- Exposure to a noisy environment and outside weather conditions.
- Direct knowledge of WHMIS and other safety systems.Experience with bar code systems.
