**Position Summary**:
The Health Emergency Management Specialist coordinates and collaborates in the development and implementation of a provincial health emergency management deployment process for FNHA staff and contractors. This role establishes internal procedures and processes that support FNHA readiness to perform health emergency management activities as well as builds FNHA’s capacity to deploy human resources to respond to emergencies. In addition, the role develops and maintains relationships with external partners.
**As a health and wellness organization, the First Nations Health Authority has aligned with the Provincial Public Health Order released on October 14, 2021. We have a mandatory COVID-19 vaccination policy for all employees at First Nations Health Authority. This policy requires all employees to be fully vaccinated against COVID-19. If selected for employment, you will be required to provide proof of vaccination by providing a copy of your BC Vaccination Card Passport with the QR code.**
**Responsibilities**:
- Responsible for the design, development and implementation of a FNHA-wide health emergency management staff redeployment process to support short-term surge capacity needs within FNHA and in First Nations communities when requested.
- Supports the scheduling and coordination of the logistics for staff and contractor deployment including travel, lodging and meals.
- Maintains a community of practice for permanent and casual staff identified for deployment in order to provide staff with training and response related experience and retain their interest in the program.
- Ensures that all staff and contractors have and maintain the required training and skills to fulfill the assigned work and helps to facilitate access to training re-certifications as required.
- Collaborates with FNHA’s Human Resources team to formalize specific staff redeployments and ensure all policy and legal responsibilities are met.
- Assists in conducting post deployment debriefing and prepares comprehensive post deployment evaluations and reports.
- Supports the work of the FNHA Public Health Response team, including response activities when required.
- Works with the Procurement department to assist with third party contracts as required to support initiatives and activities needed to achieve objectives.

**Qualifications**:
EDUCATION
- A University Degree with specialization in Public Health, Health Sciences, Disaster and Emergency Management, Crisis Management, Adult Education or other relevant health field or an equivalent combination of education, training and professional experience
- Completion of formal training or qualifications in health emergency management or emergency management
- Training in project management is an asset.
EXPERIENCE
- Minimum 3 year’s recent (within the last 10 years) experience in the scheduling of staff and contractors in a fast paced environment within a large geographic area.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience establishing collaborative relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience planning, implementing and evaluating projects and negotiating, procuring, and managing service contracts with multiple internal and external partners.
**Knowledge, Skills & Attributes**:
- Knowledge of First Nations in BC, including the governance landscape particularly as it relates to health and wellness
- Knowledge of First Nations in BC, including the governance landscape particularly as it relates to health and wellness
- Knowledge of and ability to develop curriculum to in order to support departments and First Nations Communities to submit deployment requests
- Knowledge of health services delivered to and by First Nations communities
