The School of Library and Information Studies (SLIS) offers the Master of Library and Information Studies (MLIS), a professional graduate degree accredited by the American Library Association (ALA), in both on-campus and online delivery modes. It also offers the joint MA in Digital Humanities (DH)/MLIS and the combined Master of Business Administration (MBA)/MLIS. SLIS is an administrative unit within the Faculty of Education, has the only MLIS program in the Prairie Provinces, and the only fully online, accredited graduate program in LIS in Canada. The School is committed to Reconciliation with Indigenous communities, including Indigenous students and instructors.

**Position Summary**

This 0.25 FTE position is a part of the Association of the Academic Staff of the University of Alberta (AASUA). Pay will be commensurate with experience in accordance with the Academic Teaching Staff (ATS) agreement.

This position is for a course in the internationally accredited Master of Library & Information Studies program. The course is delivered asynchronously online.

LIS 533 - Database Design for Information Management (Winter 2025, Spring/Summer 2025, asynchronous online)

An introduction to core concepts, principles, and techniques of database design for information management, from user requirement analysis, to data and information modeling and querying. Pre or corequisite: LIS 501 or consent of instructor.

**Minimum Qualifications**
- MLIS (or equivalent) from an ALA-accredited program. Other graduate-level qualifications in the area of instruction will be considered.
- Demonstrated commitment to the University’s Indigenous initiatives and principles of community, access, and belonging in graduate-level teaching within a framework of equity, diversity, and inclusion
- Minimum five years of full-time, relevant, professional experience (e.g., at the level of professional technical services librarian or other)
- Teaching experience in the online postsecondary environment at the graduate level
- Experience in the design and development of inclusive instructional resources and assessments
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to work in, and contribute to, a collegial environment
