This includes regulating the manufacture and importation of vehicles, tires, and child car seats to reduce the risk of deaths and injuries. We are currently seeking to fill the position of Collision Investigator within our team.
- Our Collision Investigations and Research Division operates from the Motor Vehicle Safety Investigation Lab, a state-of-the-art facility that’s one of the best-kept secrets in the National Capital Region. Conveniently located in Gatineau’s Hull sector, the lab is just a short distance from a major highway, 8 km from Parliament Hill, and easily accessible without heavy traffic congestion. Express and regular bus route routes, including service to and from downtown Ottawa, are just a 3-minute walk away. The facility is also adjacent to the Trans-Canada nature trails and bike paths, and it offers free parking for employees.
- At Transport Canada, our real-world collision investigations play a vital role in advancing research to evaluate the effectiveness of existing motor vehicle safety standards and identify areas for potential regulatory action under the Motor Vehicle Safety Act. Recently, our investigations have focused on collisions involving all-terrain vehicles (ATVs), micromobility devices like e-bikes and e-scooters, moderately severe side impacts, and restrained rear-seat passengers. We are also prioritizing incidents involving school and highway buses, vehicles with advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), and vulnerable road users, including pedestrians and cyclists. These investigations may lead to important safety recalls or advisories.
- As a Collision Investigator, you’ll work in various settings—including the laboratory/shop, an office, and the field. If you’re passionate about vehicles and road safety, you’ll thrive in our team, where your work will make a real difference in improving the safety of Canadians on the road.
- If you’re motivated and eager for an exciting new opportunity, we invite you to apply
