**The Role**

Reporting to the Corporate Controller, the Payroll & Accounting Specialist is responsible for daily administration and management of the Company’s payroll and benefits processes and other accounting duties.

**Duties and Responsibilities**
- Review and process daily timesheets to ensure accuracy, completeness and authorization
- Administer full-cycle bi-weekly payroll for two entities
- Prepare, reconcile, and input payroll journal entries into accounting software
- Prepare payroll related filings and supporting documentation, such as T4s, T4As, and Records of Employments
- Process new hires, employee terminations and employee status changes
- Responsible for the administration of employee benefit programs
- Prepare and maintain related payroll records and reports
- Provide information to employees concerning payroll and benefit related matters
- Ensure compliance with all Federal and Provincial legislation
- Coordinate with the HR department to ensure correct employee data and benefit administration
- Prepare bank and general ledger account reconciliations
- Prepare and post journal entries
- Assist the Controller in preparation of monthly financial reports
- Assist the Finance team with other projects and tasks as required

**Skills, Education, & Knowledge**
- Payroll Compliance Practitioner (PCP) preferred or working towards
- 3+ years of related experience in payroll
- Accounting Diploma preferred
- Proficiency using relevant payroll software, experience with Payworks is an asset
- Proficiency using Microsoft Office suite
- Advanced knowledge of Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP functions, etc.)
- In-depth knowledge of Alberta Labor laws and Employment Standard Codes
- Strong attention to detail for accurate data entry
- Superior organization skills and ability to work independently within agreed timelines
- Demonstrates results-driven work ethic and accountability for assigned duties and tasks
- Displays a positive and professional attitude and is a team player

**Salary**: $65,000.00-$75,000.00 per year

Schedule:

- 8 hour shift
- Monday to Friday
