POSITION SUMARY
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct complete and thorough case management assessments through claimant intake interviews (including field visitations), reviewing of medical information, employer interviews, discussions with medical consultants, etc.
- Ability to communicate decisions to claimants in a timely and professional manner.
- Initiating payments for eligible claims.
- Provide Early Intervention and intensive case management.
- Develop a case management plan for each assigned claimant including rehabilitation goals, projected costs, timelines for recovery, etc.
- Collaborate with the claimant, employer and other key stakeholders for claim resolution and attainment of goals.
- Communicate with employers throughout the case management process regarding return to work planning and identifying accommodations or modifications that may be required.
- Correspond with appropriate parties to arrange additional services such as IME, FCE, FAE nurse visit, OT home visit or other services to assist in the development and implementation of the case management plan.
- Ensure claimants secure all relevant benefits from external agencies, including CPP, EI, WCB, MPI, etc. and assisting them as required.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
SKILLS AND QUALIFCATIONS
- A post-secondary degree or equivalent in rehabilitation, occupational or physical therapy, nursing, psychology, or a similar discipline, and 2 to 5 years related experience.
- Demonstrated case management skills, including work in the areas of mental health, chronic pain, and other medically complex cases requiring more intensive treatment or rehabilitations plans.
- Experience in the development, execution, and monitoring of rehabilitation plans.
- Above average critical thinking skills with a customer service focus.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to relate well with claimants and all levels of sponsor organizations.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills with an ability to listen effectively.
- Ability to prepare and conduct presentations and demonstrated experience in report writing.
- Initiative to work independently and within a larger team to share knowledge and best practices.
- Excellent organizational skills with the ability to work quickly and accurately under pressure of time restraints
- Knowledge of applicable laws and regulations that impact Disability Claims Management, including but not limited to CPP, Workers’ Compensation, and other publicly sponsored worker assistance programs.
- Prior experience in a rehabilitation management company or other related industry an asset.
- Bilingual in English and French is an asset.
- NIDMAR certification is an asset.
- A valid Manitoba Driver’s License and available automobile as required.
