**Pension and Benefits Administrator**

**Temporary Full-Time (9 months contract)**

**What is the job?**

Working under the supervision of Director, Healthy Workplace and Labour Relations, the Pension and Benefits Administrator is responsible for managing the administration of the pension and benefits program at VHA Home HealthCare. The administrator will liaise with a diverse group of stakeholders ranging from non-union and union members, insurers, employee assistance program providers and others to help facilitate the VHA’s goal of a healthy workplace environment. Their responsibilities include providing pension and benefits support for staff, as well as administering VHA’s pension and benefits program. The Pension and Benefits Administrator is expected to enroll, terminate, and explain the eligibility of staff to participate in VHA’s benefits program.

They are also expected to participate in meetings, projects, and healthy initiatives as appropriate.

**Key Skills, Experience and Behaviours Required for this Position**:

- Post-Secondary Education in a related field
- Combination of education and minimum 6 months related/on-the-job experience pertaining to pension and benefits administration
- Experience in a unionized environment
- Knowledge of relevant sections of Acts, Regulations, manuals and directives (e.g. Human Resources Policies, OPSEU, SEIU and collective agreements, pertinent sections of legislation relating to CPP, EI, Income Tax)
- Ability to work with and maintain confidential information
- Strong time management skills with attention to detail
- Ability to handle a variety of concurrent assignments and to work independently
- Sound organizational and project management skills with the ability to multi-task and meet deadlines are essential
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritize tasks
- Demonstrated commitment to client and family centered care
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills, with the ability to articulate with various internal and external sources
- Ability to work in a team environment and communicate effectively with others

Satisfactory completion of technical skills testing is required.
