**Pension Consultant - Defined Benefit Pension Administration**

**What the day will look like**

The Pension Consultant leads the operational performance for assigned clients and is expected to meet and exceed contractual performance standards and defined operational measures. This position is responsible for ensuring that all work in process is completed in a timely manner and to a quality level consistent with the plan sponsor and member expectations. This includes planning, scheduling and project management, capacity and utilization management, the delegation of tasks to meet objectives, and tracking the status of work in progress. The incumbent is responsible for identifying improvements in operations that will result in year-over-year operational workload efficiencies for their client group. This position also acts as a resource to clients, third=party administrators and all internal shared services that impact the day-to-day operations. In addition to managing written and verbal communications with clients, the incumbent facilitates meeting, conducts ad hoc conversations and at times acts as the primary contact with clients.
- Manage strategy and planning for pension administration operations analysis resources
- Identify and implement operational improvements
- Coordinate client operations and facilitate weekly operational meetings
- Consulting with clients
- Identify and resolve escalations or complex issues with strong emphasis to associated patterns, trends, and root cause analysis.
- Review complex pension calculations and yearend tasks such as PAs, Annual Statements, etc.
- Guide and support training for new and existing associates

**Qualifications**
- Minimum of 3-5 years working with Defined Benefit pension plans;
- Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Actuarial Sciences and Finance or equivalent work experience, in a relevant industry;
- Previous work experience in reviewing complex calculations and yearend tasks (PAs, Indexation, Annual Statements, etc.);
- Solid knowledge of related provincial and federal pension legislation and Income Tax Act provisions;
- Strong client and vendor communication and management skills;
- Experience with project/implementation work;
- Good oral and written communication skills and ability to work in a team environment;
- Proficiency with MS Project, Excel, Access and Word;
- Experience with pension administration systems, strong spreadsheet competencies and math aptitude required;
- Detail-oriented with sound pension administration and organizational skills; and
- Other assets include fluency in French and the completion of CEBS, PPAC, or actuarial courses.
