**Upper Canada Roads Services Inc.** is a road maintenance company based in Markham, specializing in pavement marking, crack sealing, and other road-related services. We work directly with the Ministry of Transportation (MTO), cities, municipalities, property managers, airports, construction companies, and consulting engineers. We are currently seeking an Estimator & Project Manager to help us expand our business, strengthen existing relationships, and ensure a seamless experience for our clients. This role requires someone who can manage projects from start to finish. **Position Overview** This role is integral to the success of Upper Canada Road Services, combining expertise in cost estimation and project management leadership. The position involves accurately estimating project costs and efficiently managing project execution from start to finish, ensuring on-time, on-budget, and high-quality delivery. **Key Responsibilities** **Estimating Responsibilities**: - Review project plans, drawings, and specifications to understand scope and perform detailed quantity take-offs and cost analysis. - Prepare accurate estimates for customers including materials, labour, equipment, and other project costs. - Analyze bids, tender documents, and addenda to ensure comprehensive and competitive pricing. - Prepare and submit detailed proposals, bids, and tenders ensuring accuracy and timeliness. - Collaborate with vendors and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotes and pricing. - Maintain an updated database of costs for materials, labor rates, and subcontractor pricing in B2W Estimate. **Sales & Customer Management**: - Generate leads and pursue new business opportunities. - Present job proposals to customers and close sales effectively. - Develop and maintain strong customer relationships to drive sales growth. **Project Management Responsibilities**: - Oversee project execution, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. - Develop and manage project schedules, coordinating with clients, subcontractors, and internal teams. - Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, addressing concerns and ensuring satisfaction. - Prepare and manage accurate and timely billing cycles for customers. - Conduct regular site visits to monitor progress, resolve issues, and ensure adherence to project plans. - Manage project close-out, including final inspections, as-built documentation, and client handovers. - Provide regular project updates, reports, and analysis to optimize the customer experience. **Qualifications & Skills** - Proven experience in both estimating and project management, preferably in the pavement marking or construction industry. - Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction blueprints, drawings, and specifications. - Strong analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate estimating. - Solid organizational and multitasking abilities to manage multiple projects simultaneously. - Effective communication and negotiation skills to build relationships with clients, subcontractors, and team members. - Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook), Adobe Acrobat, and project management tools. - Familiarity with industry-specific estimating software is an asset. **Key Competencies**: - A proactive "can-do" attitude with strong problem-solving skills. - Customer focused approach with proven ability to build trust and long-term relationships. - Reliable, punctual, and committed to delivering high-quality work. - Strong leadership qualities and the ability to motivate and coordinate teams.
