**How will you make an impact?**
We are looking for a proactive and community-minded Research and Evaluation Specialist to help create and implement our evaluation processes across our programs. The Research and Evaluation Specialist will ensure that the Fireweed Institute’s programs are both impactful and evidence-driven, and use data
- and story-first approaches to communicate these impacts to our funders and partners.. This role supports the Research Lead to support the development of results-based planning, monitoring, and evaluation procedures of The Fireweed Institute.
**What will you work on?**
**Evaluation Management & Delivery**
- Develop and implement evaluation frameworks that are consistent with Fireweed’s objectives and priorities
- Lead research and evaluation strategies that generate actionable insights on Indigenous entrepreneurs’ needs, aspirations, and effective supports.
- Collaborate with delivery partners and contractors to engage best practices and shared learning opportunities.
- Produce reports, briefs, and narrative outputs to share program learnings with partners, funders, and broader audiences (in collaboration with Storytelling Lead).
- Provide expertise, facilitation and guidance on the design and implementation of evaluation methods
- Ensure the integrity of data through monitoring, evaluation, analysis, and identifying and resolving issues.
- Support knowledge sharing and knowledge transfer with the Storytelling lodgepole
- Develop and implement custom participant feedback methods that are culturally safe and low-barrier.
- Develop program evaluation frameworks that align with Indigenous worldviews and integrate to program funder key performance indicators.
- Analyze data and provide recommendations for improvement in strategies, processes and policies that support effective program planning and delivery.
- Collaborate across team to enhance program effectiveness.
**Team Collaboration & Learning**
- Attend weekly team meetings and contribute to continuous program learning and development.
- Attend a monthly in-person meeting at the Fireweed’s Vancouver office.
- Participate in cultural and professional development opportunities offered by Fireweed Institute.

**Required**
- Located within a commuting distance of Vancouver**:
- Approximately three years or more of experience in community-based research and/or program evaluation, with an understanding of Indigenous data sovereignty principals.
- Previous experience working with Indigenous communities/worldviews.
- Has the ability to present technical information in lay terms and communicate to appropriate communities and to translate wisdom and storytelling into technical information.
- Experience with report writing (and willing to share examples).
- Experience with diverse platforms for impact reporting/back-end knowledge (e.g. SPSS, SAS, SurveyMonkey, AirTable)
- Strong understanding of granting/NGO/nonprofit/philanthropic sector
- Experience communicating/relationship building with donors
- Experience tracking and managing various types of data (survey results, interviews, etc.).
- Has experience collaborating on storytelling and communications.
- Strong organizational skills, reliability, and comfort juggling multiple timelines and logistics.
- Excellent interpersonal and intercultural communication skills.
**Preferred**
- A Master’s degree (or in progress) in the humanities, social sciences, health or another related field.
- Experience working with Indigenous communities or organizations.
- Comfort with tools like Canva, Slack, MS 365, project management tools (e.g., Asana), and basic design software.
