**WHO YOU ARE**:
You are an analytical thinker, with the ability to prioritize and delegate your tasks in a way that ensures accurate results. You’d consider yourself a bit of an Excel wizard, and you never shy away from taking on a spreadsheet. The Business Controller is part of the Finance Team and works closely with various departments to analyze business results. As a part of the Operations Leadership Team, you will support our Theatre Teams with fully understanding their business and where they have an impact. You are comfortable offering your accounting expertise in a fast-paced work environment and are excited to contribute to a variety of different projects. Taking the time to help others better understand ways that they can improve on their budgets comes naturally to you. You will provide financial, budgetary and KPI information, data and analysis, build business cases for new investments, supporting strategic decision makingand YOU love movies.

**THE JOB**:
**Location**: _This is a flexible hybrid position, based out of our Calgary or Waterloo Office_
- Leading Management Reporting (MRF) P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, Capex budget exercises and supporting our theatre teams to execute at their highest potential
- Working closely with Accounting and Finance to ensure an accurate monthly closing
- Provides variance analysis vs profit plan, frequent forecasting to support operational decisions based on historic metrics
- Provide analysis on business results, financial KPI’s, benchmarking and important business drivers
- Preparation of business cases for new projects and investments and follow up reporting to determine if returns or objectives have been achieved
- Coordinates and supports operations team yearly budgeting, periodical financial forecasts and Capex plans
- Compiles yearly budget with direction and guidelines from the Senior Leadership Team
- Identifies inefficiencies and provides guidance as it relates to process improvements
- Ensures management reporting complies with organizational guidelines
- Identifies business risks and abnormalities, collaborates with applicable stakeholders to mitigate risk and reduce gaps
- Advises Operations Leadership Team on assumptions of business planning

**REQUIREMENTS**:

- Completion of a post-secondary school program or diploma in Business Administration with a focus in Accounting or Finance
- A 3-5 years experience in accounting, preferably in an analytical and/or reporting environment
- Possess strong analytical competencies and engaged in finding solutions and efficiencies
- Thrives in a fast paced, results orientated work environment
- Comfortable and confident in providing or presenting recommendations and advice in areas of expertise
- Clear understanding and knowledge of marketing and business procedures and have related experience working with Operations
- CPA Designation is preferred but not required
