An **Accounting Technician** is required in our Lethbridge office. The Accounting Technician is responsible for working with the accounting department and the CFO to maintain accurate trust accounting records, compliance with law society regulations, daily financial entries and reconciliations, investment accounts, accounts payable and receivable. This position will report to the CFO.

**Responsibilities/Duties**:

- Maintain trust accounts
- Ensure compliance with Law Society trust accounting regulations
- Receipt funds into designated accounts, process wire transfers, and e-transfers
- Invest trust money on behalf of clients and maintain investment accounts
- Process and enter bank deposits, trust and general cheques, and cash payments
- Administrate Moneris online payment system
- Reconcile debit and credit receipts and allocate funds to client files
- Maintain client A/R and process write-offs
- Maintain business A/R and A/P records
- Reconcile trust and general bank accounts
- Prepare month end financial reports
- Prepare year end financial reports
- Provide direction and assistance to other staff with regards to accounting matters
- Perform other duties as assigned

**Required Skills**:

- Diploma or certificate in a related field preferred
- Accounting experience in a professional services organization preferred
- Experience with trust accounting and investment accounts is an asset
- Experience preparing year-end financial reports in accordance with the Law Society of Alberta is an asset
- Proficiency using Prolaw is an asset
- Proficiency with MS Office including Excel and Word
- Must be able to operate under tight deadlines and work efficiently
- Must be extremely detail orientated
