It is the mission of Tungasuvvingat Inuit (TI) to broadly provide Inuit-specific programs that contribute to the health and wellbeing of Inuit and to encourage and support similar programs for Inuit across the country. With over 30 years of highly successful experience in crafting the design, development, and delivery of a wide range of effective, client-centered services, TI continues to deliver quality programs and services that directly benefit our growing urban Inuit population.
Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Director of Family Services will support the members of the Tungasuvvingat Inuit (TI) management team in the process of program development and delivery. The Director of Family Services is accountable for delivering a wide range of family social services program including child protection, foster care, child/adults with disabilities, family violence, child abuse prevention and advocacy for vulnerable groups who cannot advocate for themselves. Working in close collaboration with the Executive Director, the Executive Team and with Program Managers, the Director will lead and/or support the assessment of family program and service needs; program, project and event planning, budgeting and evaluation; revenue generation; proposal development; and liaison with government, corporate, and not for profit partners and funding agencies. The Director of Family Services utilizes and incorporates the 8 Guiding Principles of Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit and Inuit traditional teachings when approaching all areas of responsibilities.
**Responsibilities**:
Corporate Program Planning and Management Support
- Undertake research to identify and prioritize the program and service needs of TI’s membership and service area.
- Participate in the development of strategic, operational, program and project plans for TI.
- Assist Program Managers in preparing, planning and budgeting materials for inclusion in TI’s strategic and operational planning.
- Review and develop corporate policies and procedures to identify gaps or revision needs.
- Define and monitor program and service delivery standards.
Program Planning and Management Support
- Support Program Managers in analyzing community needs based on research and community input.
- Support program/service design by assisting in defining:
- Program goals, objectives, intakes, outputs and outcomes.
- Financial, facility, equipment, materials, policy and human resources needs.
- Impact on and linkages with other TI programs, TI general management and administration, and TI governance.
- Program evaluation and program performance measurement/monitoring framework.
- Support annual program planning
Human Resources Planning and Management
- Identify direct and secondary staffing and training needs associated with program and service delivery.
- Identify opportunities for staffing efficiencies at the program level through shared resources with other programs.
- Support the development and maintenance of a program-focused performance review framework and process.
Community Relations and Advocacy
- Prepare literature, news releases, features and materials to promote TI programs, services, events, and corporate achievements to multiple audiences.
- Establish effective working relationships, collaborative arrangements and support networks with Inuit and other community groups, funders, partners, and government representatives at the municipal, provincial and federal levels.
- Support the development of TI advocacy plans and position reports, briefs and policy positions.
- Represent TI, as delegated by the Executive Director, in all relationships with other organizations, planning bodies, the community and the media.
Financial Planning and Management
- Develop and assist in implementing a revenue generation plan for specific programs
- Assist in the preparation of a comprehensive annual budget for programs and services
- Assist in the preparation and submission of program financial reports, internally and to funders as required.
Revenue Generation
- Maintain existing and identify additional potential funding sources linked to TI strategic goals to support TI programs, services, events, and operations.
- Establish and implement longer-term revenue generation strategies.
- Prepare funding proposals based on program, service, and the annual operational plan.
- Monitor donor organizations and departments, funders, programs, and other potential revenues sources.
- Implement and monitor revenue generation policy, donor recognition policy, and partnership policy.
