**About Us**
The Sexual Violence Prevention and Support Centre (Centre) is mandated to conduct intake, accept disclosures and reports of sexual violence, and provide support to individual members of the University community who have experienced sexual violence, including faculty, staff, and students. The Centre is the first point of contact for members of the University community who have experienced sexual violence to obtain academic support, employment, or other accommodations and services.
The Sexual Violence Prevention and Response Coordinator provides non-judgmental and confidential, support to clients with a wide range of concerns stemming from their experience of sexual violence and its impact on functioning in the post-secondary context as a student, staff, or faculty member.
The Centre is also deeply invested in education initiatives and continues to raise awareness through workshops, training, programs, and campaigns. The incumbent will also provide education and training to members of University community with respect to understanding consent, care, how to respond to disclosures of sexual violence, and more.
The Coordinator provides case management and triage services to support and stabilize client, referrals to internal services (e.g. accessibility services, health services, housing, etc.) and to external services (e.g. financial, legal, police, hospital, etc.) for members of the entire University community in accordance with the provisions set-out in the University’s Policy on Sexual Violence and Sexual Harassment.
The Coordinator conducts screening/triage around sexual violence cases; screening urgent/crisis phone calls and walk-in visits; monitoring client flow and adherence to requests for applicable accommodations, supports or resources; case management of urgent and/or complex cases that may.
The SVPR Coordinator primarily provides support to the University of Toronto Scarborough campus community and on occasion provides supports to other campuses as required.
**Qualifications**
**Education**
- Graduate-level university degree in a related field (e.g. social work, psychology, public health, criminology, etc.) or equivalent combination of education and experience;
- Knowledge of the criminal justice system and police policy and procedures.
**Experience**
- Minimum seven (7) years related experience, preferably in a Sexual Assault Care Centre, Community Mental Health setting and/or Outpatient mental health unit where the incumbent has performed client intakes/assessments, crisis counselling, brief or short-term counselling for persons impacted by sexual violence;
- Extensive experience with mental health illness, behavioural issues, anger management and conflict resolution;
- Skills in working with university-aged young adults and individuals in crisis an asset;
- Demonstrated understanding of the impact of sexual violence on intersectional identities when providing trauma-informed care and support;
- Experience in training and/or running groups.

- Ability to communicate effectively with staff and senior academic administrators about issues facing students in crisis and make recommendations;

- Demonstrated ability to relate to students, staff, and faculty in ways that build confidence and trust;
- Able to work in a highly diverse community with students from varied backgrounds and a variety of age groups, presenting with a range of difficulties and personal issues.

- Ability to deal with senior University Officers in a manner which facilitates cooperation;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multi-disciplinary team;
- Demonstrated ability to act calmly under pressure and to deal effectively and efficiently with stressful and emergency situations;
- Ability to produce detailed and comprehensive reports;
- Inherent in this role are the knowledge, skills and attitudes specific to critical thinking and decision-making, the ability to analyze and assess presenting mental health concerns and collaborate with the medical team in the management of these mental health concerns, and flexibility and decision-making in fluid situations with unpredictable outcomes.
