**Primary Purpose**
The High School Recruitment & Career Advisor plays a key role in recruiting high school students to University Canada West (UCW). This individual will actively engage with high school students, counsellors, and educators to promote UCW’s academic programs, scholarships, and opportunities. The position focuses on building and nurturing relationships with high school communities across British Columbia and beyond, facilitating effective communication, and providing accurate information to support students in pursuing higher education.
**Specific Responsibilities**
The High School Recruitment & Career Advisor will, at various times, be responsible for the following as well as other related duties as assigned to support UCW's business objectives, mission, and purpose:
Outreach and Relationship Building:
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with high school counsellors, principals, and key educators across the region.
- Represent UCW at high school career fairs, events, and other recruitment opportunities, serving as a knowledgeable and approachable ambassador for the university.
- Foster ongoing communication with high school communities to keep them informed about UCW’s programs, scholarships, and opportunities.
- Provide guidance to students, parents, and other stakeholders, facilitating their enrollment at UCW.
Student Recruitment:
- Deliver engaging in-person and virtual presentations to high school students, highlighting UCW’s undergraduate programs, scholarships, financial aid, and support services.
- Host one-on-one consultations with prospective students to provide personalized advice aligned with their educational and career goals.
Promotional Activities:
- Organize and coordinate recruitment events such as information sessions, workshops, and UCW-hosted activities (e.g., Discovery UCW) for high school counsellors and students.
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop and distribute promotional materials tailored to high school audiences.
Data Management and Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of outreach activities, student engagement, and event participation.
- Provide detailed reports on recruitment progress, including insights and outcomes from events and initiatives.
- Use data and feedback to evaluate and enhance outreach strategies.
- Support the business development team in achieving broader departmental objectives as required.
Collaboration:
- Work in close partnership with the domestic recruitment team and other university departments to align strategies and ensure consistent messaging.
- Share insights and feedback with recruitment and admissions teams to improve the student journey from initial contact to enrollment.
Professional Development and Industry Engagement:
- Stay current with trends in education, student recruitment, and career counselling to enhance outreach effectiveness.
- Attend relevant conferences, training sessions, and workshops to further develop professional expertise and refine recruitment strategies.
Travel within British Columbia and across Canada will be required.
**Position Requirements**
Competencies:
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with students, counsellors, and educators.
- Strong presentation and public speaking abilities.
- Outstanding organizational skills and attention to detail, with a proven ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and CRM software; experience with recruitment software is an asset.
- A passion for education and a strong commitment to supporting student success.
- Demonstrated ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.
- Willingness to travel and represent the organization at events across British Columbia, with occasional travel to other provinces.
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Counseling, Communications, Marketing, or a related field.
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in student recruitment, career counselling, or a related outreach role, preferably within an educational setting.#LI-TS1
