**ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY**
We are seeking a highly motivated, team-orientated individual to join our Ministry of Education team as an **Education Events Coordinator**. Reporting to the Métis Education Manager or their delegate, the primary objective of the role is to oversee all aspects of Ministry of Education event planning, execution and follow up of events from start to finish.
**KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES**
- Coordinate and oversee all aspects of Ministry of Education event planning, execution and follow up of events from start to finish
- Research vendors/contractors (e.g. catering, cultural facilitators, venues etc.) and follow budget requirements.
- Coordinate event logistics, including but not limited to, rental bookings, participant registration, travel booking, caterer booking, venue booking, contractor management, agenda scheduling, liaising with project partners.
- Execute facility booking contract details by determining, planning, and organizing technical requirements and other event details in cooperation with the event organizers and internal departments.
- Liaise with suppliers to ensure satisfaction and high quality of provided service.
- Determine event staffing requirements in cooperation with team members and assigning work.
- Coordinate the development of event-related materials, including but not limited to invitations, agendas, ID badges, banners, brochures, announcements, signs, giveaway items, and prizes.
- Be the primary point of contact for tours/event organizers, vendors, and crew, liaising with representatives leading up to, during and following the event.
- Ensure all event setup requirements are met - Co-ordinate set-ups, staging, seating, parking, communication systems and other details.
- Attend and supervise events, as required.
- Proactively handle any arising issues and troubleshoot any emerging problems on the event day
- Conduct pre - and post-event evaluations and report on outcomes.
- Represent MNBC and the Ministry of Education at community events across the province and engage the public about MNBC programs and services, as required.
- Actively participate as a critical member of the Ministry of Education team to create solutions that advance the successful, efficient, and effective delivery of MNBC’s Ministry of Education initiatives
**THE IDEAL CANDIDATE**
- Degree or Diploma in Business, Marketing, Hospitality, or Communications (or equivalent).
- Two (2) years of experience in planning and execution of events.
- A combination of relevant experience, education, and training will be considered.
- Knowledge and/or awareness of the historical and contemporary contributions made by Métis people in B.C.
- Previous experience working in an Indigenous Community, with strong knowledge of Métis culture and history, is considered an asset.
- Knowledge or skill in event planning, an asset
- Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to lead, problem-solve, and utilize team-building skills.
- Proven ability to utilize strong interpersonal skills to deal with others effectively.
- Proven ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work with mínimal supervision.
- Proven ability to utilize, adapt and embrace new technologies, including Word, Excel and other database/software required by the role.
