**Basic Function**:
As an Estimator in the Special Projects Division at Sierra Construction Group, you will play a critical role in preparing accurate and timely cost estimates for a variety of unique and fast-paced construction projects. Your strong analytical and technical capabilities will help drive the success of this newly established division by delivering competitive and profitable bids while ensuring projects are accurately scoped and budgeted.

**Key Responsibilities**:

- Prepare timely and accurate project budgets and quotations for diverse, fast-tracked, and specialized projects.
- Perform all quantity surveying as required for projects, including specialized scopes such as adaptive reuse, structural modifications, and high-detail finishes.
- Assist in the preparation of the bid calendar for the estimating department to ensure due diligence on all proposals.
- Prepare detailed estimates/budgets for Lump Sum, Construction Management, Design-Build, and negotiated contracts.
- Utilize procedures, methods, and processes to maintain consistency and efficiency in estimating operations.
- Subtrade quotation solicitation and review, ensuring competitive pricing and full scope coverage.
- Perform comprehensive take-offs and pricing for all construction divisions.
- Price General Conditions, ensuring accurate project overhead calculations.
- Manage document control, ensuring all estimates align with project specifications and contractual requirements.
- Coordinate bonding and insurance requests as required for project bids.
- Maintain and expand the trade partner database, fostering strong relationships with subcontractors and suppliers.
- Assist in the award process of all subcontractor work, ensuring scope clarity and cost effectiveness.
- Conduct detailed quote and schedule reviews, developing thorough scope-of-work documentation for Subtrade Proposal Review Meetings and subcontracts.
- Facilitate Subtrade Proposal Review Meetings with subcontractors, project managers, and superintendents to ensure project alignment.
- Prepare formal Subtrade Recommendations for Construction Management projects.
- Direct the preparation and review of Subcontracts, ensuring completeness before issuance.
- Perform pre-construction handover meetings with project managers and site supervisors to ensure smooth project execution.
- Conduct site visits and ongoing project reviews, providing cost-related insights and adjustments as necessary.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Perform any other duties that may be superficially or generally assigned.

**Additional Responsibilities**:

- Develop historical costing data from subcontractor bids and past project performance for cost benchmarking.
- Maintain and communicate data on construction and material cost trends, helping refine cost-estimating models.
- Stay up to date with industry trends, conferences, and training for professional development.
- Establish and maintain relationships with vendors and subcontractors, ensuring strong market connections.
- Mentor and support junior estimating staff, sharing knowledge and best practices.
- Contribute to the team culture by promoting a positive and collaborative work environment.

**Education & Experience**:

- Diploma or degree in Engineering, Construction Science/Management, Architectural Technology, or a related field.
- CET, GSC, or PQS certification is an asset.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience as a construction estimator, preferably in special projects, adaptive reuse, commercial, or industrial builds.

**Qualifications & Skills**:

- Strong knowledge of market labor, material, and equipment rates.
- Expertise in Excel and estimating software (e.g., Sage Estimating, HCSS, Procore, or similar).
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and negotiation abilities.
- Well-organized, reliable, and able to manage multiple estimates under tight deadlines.
- High level of integrity and commitment to quality and accuracy.
- Working knowledge of AutoCAD or Revit is considered an asset.
