**Project Manager / Estimator Heavy Civil**

**Reports To**:General Manager

**Basic Function**:

- Estimating the costs of potential projects
- Gathering tender forms and creating/maintaining a log with upcoming bids and past bid result
- As the company’s representative, this position is accountable for timing, costs, and the overall construction project’s performance
- Daily communicating with Foreman, Clients, Consultants, Suppliers and Subcontractors
- Maintain good relations with clients, subcontractors and suppliers
- Maintain up to date: progress payment quantities, schedules, and logs (shop drawings, RFIs, Change Orders) for multiple projects at a time.

**Skill Requirements**:

- Determine the quantity of labour and material required for the project (takeoff).
- Communicate with potential subtrades and suppliers.
- Scheduling subcontractors and material deliveries.
- Setting up and preparing Progress Payment Certificates.
- Prepare and interpret tender documents, specifications, general conditions, and other parts of contracts; analyze bids and/or negotiate contracts.
- Prepare a project cost summary, including labour, equipment, materials, safety, subcontractors, overhead, taxes, insurance, mark-up, etc.
- Review, evaluate, and coordinate all relevant documents from concept to construction.
- Consider all project risks, such as procurement, contracts, scope, methodology, cost, quality, schedule, etc.
- Evaluate equipment needs, the operations sequence, the crew size, the site’s physical constraints (e.g., waste materials, inclement weather, shipping delays), and other cost-impact factors.
- During construction, potentially manage the cost, negotiation, and settlement of Change Orders or extra costs; mitigate potential claims.
- Prepare work on hand, forecasting and budgeting documents
- As necessary, review and/or evaluate constructability, schedule, contract scopes and awards, cost planning, and life-cycle costing.
- Receiving and or creating, reviewing, submitting and tracking of Shop Drawings and RFIs (Request for Information).
- Create and maintain a punch list and deficiency program to ensure quality control and the timely remedy of deficiencies to ensure delivery of the finished product.
- Professionally and efficiently handle and administer multiple tasks on concurrently running projects with excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.
