In this role, you'll transform complex, emergency situations into clear, actionable messages that help safeguard people, property, and natural resources during wildland fires and other emergencies. Beyond emergency response, you'll lead outreach, marketing and communications that strengthen public education and awareness year-round. In this role, you will: - Develop and deliver strategic communications and outreach plans. - Create clear, engaging content for the public and stakeholders. - Act as spokesperson during wildland fire and emergency events, including responding to media inquiries. - Monitor emerging issues and prepare timely briefings and messaging. - Coordinate events and campaigns to promote AFFES programs. - Support emergency response teams and implement public safety messaging.- - **What you bring to the team**: - ** Mandatory requirements**: Class "G" drivers license - **Communication Knowledge and Skills**: - Understand communication planning methods, media relations, and publication processes - Follow government communication standards and protocols - Work effectively with teams and partners across organizations- ** Writing and Editing Skills**: - Write clear, accurate content for public and stakeholder audiences - Edit and format materials for consistency and logical flow - Translate technical information into plain language- ** Issues and Information Management**: - Identify and analyze emerging issues and trends - Prepare concise briefing materials for decision-makers - Monitor topics that may attract public or media attention- ** Technical and Digital Skills**: - Use word processing, desktop publishing, and layout tools - Coordinate production of communication materials across platforms (including web and social media)- **How we support diversity, inclusion and accessibility**: We are building an inclusive workforce that reflects the communities we serve.
